I've been doing research and I've come across a question I'm very confused about so here it is. What does it mean when a molecule is freebase? I understand dmt in acidic form is a salt so it forms with an ionic bond and disassociates within water to form 2 ions ??? I think? Anyways I believe acidic ions are elecron doners h30+ gives an electron to achieve the octet rule and oh- receives one but if the final dmt product is simply dmt and dmt alone how is it basic ? Or is it ? Does it do the same as salt in water except following the non polar rules as opposed to the polar? I'm baffled as to what it means when something is a freebase was it just freed from the acetate or was it actually structurally changed completely. Internet searches yield nothing more than cocain information which is hardly relevant and not helpful. I trust somebody here will be able to help thank you
