Cheers Endlessness,
The plant is from the west of Alice springs. It seems to be growing everywhere, and I do believe it grows all year round.
I have performed a few extractions previously with this plant, but they have been rushed and not very well cared for as time was an issue.
for some reason I had kept all the leaves and stem in acid water in jars for a few weeks now in the hope that my rushed teks had not pulled everything possible. So the other day I thought i would do another extraction using the left over material.
I wasn't worried to much if anything would be pulled from it, I was more interested in getting the extraction perfected and tweaked. So i heated up all the material in a large S/S Pot and let it simmer for a couple of hours. then strained everything through an old t-shirt (this will be replaced with some muslin cloth as soon as I can get my hands on some)
I had about 5L of liquid so boiled it down to 3L.
i then strained it again as i put it into a 5L container to let cool.
After 15mins i performed a defat and added 100ml of shellite and shook alot.
I did this 4 times as i kept getting sooooo much gunk coming out into the shellite. I posted on here about that and someone said not to worry.
So i then Added about 300gm of caustic soda. then 300ml of shellite, rolled and mixed for 15mins. then siphoned out.
did this 2 times as i didnt expect much if anything to be pulled. put it into a nice pyrex bowl and stuck in the freezer.
3days later i arrived home and found a couple of nice white spots on the side of the bowl.
I drained the shellite out and stuck upside down in the freezer.
the next day i air dried with a fan, then spent a good hour scraping the smallest amount together.
I was heaps excited as I could start to smell that unique smell that I wanted.
ingestion yielded some very nice results.
Endlessness I have just ordered a ehrlich test, thanks for the recommendation.
A new large amount of Petalostylis cassioides has been obtained, this next extract i will do more methodical preparation by blending the leaves up. ALso my pH stripshave finally arrived so I will be able to confirm what pH has been obtained.
I will post the next results in the coming weeks.
here are some pics i took along the way
