Does the DMT-acetate sink to the bottom of water? Options

The reason is I like to let the sub-filtered particles sink to the bottom in order to remove them.

I always feel like the magical substance is stuck in the powdered sludge though... Is it completely saturated in water or is saturated but still sinks and pools at the bottom?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

what i would recommend is separating the water from the "sludge"
and then you can wash the resultant sludge in water, so if there are acetate alks in there, you can solve them out again.

do that as many times as you feel necessary to get all the goodies out.

So, does this mean DMT is dispersed unevenly in water and can reside at the bottom?

If a solute (DMT-Acetate in this case) is insoluble in a solvent (the water), it will sink to the bottom, however, and correct me if I'm wrong anyone, but if the solute is soluble in water, it will be dispersed evenly throughout the solution, in this case being the water.

I'm not sure which tek you're referring to and haven't worked with DMT-Acetate personally, but it sounds like if you're total solution is in water, it might be best to pour it off slowly and wash the sludge with water a few times like Parshvik said.

Tried it but it's impossible, it forms in to a hard clay that is impossible to get out, I would have to break the glass jar!

I made another thread for exploring other possibilities:

Well Someyoungtraveler, a solute won't necessarily sink to the bottom...
If the solute is less dense than water it will float at the top, like naptha does.

How have you precipitated the acetate salt? If it is reasonably pure, you should be able to remove it from the jar with a small amount of IPA or acetone. Filter the resulting solution (make sure you pre-wet the filter paper so your spice laden solvent isn't absorbed) and evaporate to completion.

EDIT: read your other thread (read my reply there). I think I understand a bit better now. You probably haven't got much spice in your clay/sludge, but there may be a bit, depends on the size of the batch.

I'm not a big fan of SWIM. I mean, I've never met the guy, but any time I hear about him, he's doing something sketchy.
