What re some of the differences? Ive pulled a gram or two of dmt and have a pull of xylene waiting to evaporate. What are some differences in experience or taste?

Hard to say regarding experiences.. I think placebo effect has played a big role in a lot of people's description of jungle spice. There was a time when it was 'in fashion' to say jungle spice resulted in darker experiences (as expected, considering people are smoking a dark red oil instead of clear crystals... ) .

Nevertheless there have also been a lot of people saying they preffer the 'full spectrum' experiences and that it feels more 'spiritual'. Again, this is IMO very possibly placebo, considering many people had the impression there was a big difference in alkaloid content in jungle spice.

Fact is, alkaloid analysis has shown the difference in alkaloid content of jungle vs dmt is actually minimal. There are indeed some trace alkaloids which do not appear in naphtha pulls but do with xylene pulls, but to consider these alkaloids psychoactive, in a reliably distinctive way, in such small amounts, is only speculation thus far.

The only time I've read of somebody doing blind test, the person could NOT notice any difference between jungle vs yellow vs white dmt.

As for taste, it's been a while since I was vaporizing jungle but I don't remember a big change in taste. Anyways I recommend vaporization instead of smoking, which will significantly reduce taste.

I suggest checking my signature link for more info. Also, I strongly suggest salting your xylene instead of evaporating. Evaporating xylene is wasteful, takes long and smells bad. FASW or vinegar salting will retain the so-called 'full-spectrum' of jungle. FASA on the other hand works great but will be more selective to DMT-only.

What would the salt be that's produced with vinegar? I actually have some GAA sitting around that i might play around with later. What I've done sofar is taken the xylene pull (piss yellow) and mixed it with maybe 100-200 ml of methanol. Im planning on just evaping the methanol, but may salt some other pulls.

Edit: added picture

I got all interested in jungle spice as the name sounded so cool. This I know to be silly as i am an intelligent person (if you have any faith in the bit of paper Mensa sent me). However put the word jungle in front of something and I am drawn to it. must be all those years of raving back in the day :-)

I made some jungle spice from MHRB made some pure DMT and also managed to refine just the "jungle" aspect. What I can say is that the pure spice weight for weight was a lot weaker than the jungle spice while just the "jungle" on its own was inactive and seemed to expand, bubble and generally seem a bit toxic when heated. My unscientific conclusion was that whatever the red oily "jungle" was seemed to help the spice vaporise better as it had higher melting point and was protecting the DMT as it was heated giving the comparatively better results.

I noticed that the jungle spice also had a second vape temp. Ie if you carefully heated and consumed the DMT part then held the torch on and really heated the bowl something else would suddenly combust/ vaporise after the DMT was done. This second flash did not do anything psychedelic and left a nasty taste. Jungle spice also seems to build a residue in my GVG after a bit of use where as the pure DMT did not.

I only used naphtha to extract mine but did have a magnetic stirrer hotplate. The jungle fraction was partially soluble in the naphtha and totally insoluble in water and was oily it came over as the DMT was depleted on the second pull.

I have been proposing doing a test where pure spice is mixed at say an 80 / 20 ratio with something oily and vaporisable that is inactive. My guess is that this would make the spice stronger/ hit harder.

I have not got round to doing this as the spice I have is bang on already and I have such a busy life with two kids running me ragged that finding the time is difficult.

Sorry to sound a bit skeptic but I have a few questions for you:

1) How did you refine the jungle aspect?

2) How do you know that the result from what you refined is really 'jungle'?

3) Did you do the test double blind?

Kind regards,

The Traveler

I like the questions was waiting for someone to ask

1) I used my own variation on the salt trek but using a magnetic stirrer hotplate set to 70 degrees C for the pulls and a 3 day vinegar soak on the powdered bark. most of the spice came out pure in the first pull (it was fully saturated) and then as second pull came over it was what you would typically call jungle spice I combined the first and second pulls in the end as this gave me the best balance for the final smoke. The third pull i did just to be sure and this contained no DMT only the "jungle". This substance was def not lye solution. It started to seperate from the naphtha upon evaporation but was unaffected by freezing. Once fully dried it seemed to be a consistent thick red oil which was almost solid and would not dissolve in water ever after three days.

I can give you full tek details if you wish. The DMT literally fell out I used an side arm flask and it was precipatating from the temp drop as it came through the side arm when I poured the naphtha out. I did this into a warmed shot glass let everything settle and then syringed it out to be freeze precipated.

2) as "jungle" has no pure defination unlike DMT I don't "know" but this does seem consistent with what others have reported. I stated above this is my opinion / observations and speculation with no scientific data to back it up. I am not scientifically trained and have no lab experience but do have a longstanding love of psycadelic drugs. I would not like to say that my word is gospel but do feel confident that what I extracted was indeed pure "jungle"

3) No double blind but I would say the effects between pure and "jungle spice" were the same but that the "jungle spice" was more "efficient" ie you needed less for the same effect. I don't buy the darker trip part and think if anything it is just people becoming a bit freaked out by the unexpected extra potency. Especially if they think it is not going to do much as it is not pure.

Like I said I would be intrested to find out if the "jungle" is just making the DMT vaporise more effectively. If this is the case theoretically you should be able to mix the DMT with say 10 to 20 percent of a safe to vape non psychoactive oil or wax and improve its effectiveness. I have been meaning to test this but as I said I am so busy at the mo. I was going to also recombine the inactive "jungle" with some pure and see if it made a difference but alas I finished the pure stuff off and have still got enough really good "jungle spice" to last for a while. I don't want to mess with this stuff as it is awesome.

I prefer it to the pure stuff which I incidentally made by doing a a/b extraction on some "jungle spice" this stuff was like I just scraped up a pile of frost it looked beautifull. I had high hopes for it but was surprised at the loss of potency.

On a side note thank you for this site I have learnt a lot lurking on here I had done aya and plenty of other psychedelics in the past including 14g dry liberty cap trips but it was the info on here that got me to dig up a 50g bag of root bark I had lying in a draw for 10 years and extract it. Have not looked back since.

Spice has really helped me reconnect with my roots if that makes any sense it seems to have a real resonance with me and take me places other psychedelics can't. So thank you traveller and nexus you have enlightend me and imparted your knowledge a favour I would like to be in a position to return some day.

Updates: layers have seperated after evaping for one night. about 50% is gone. Methanol is still piss colored, but xylene is cloudy white. Going to evap each seperately.

I believe it would be an acetate

The last pic looks as if the menthonol has robbed the impurities and the xylene has just got mainly spice.

It does, which is weird. I asked on chat and looked around and people told me dmt was more soluble in methanol... Iunno. Post nack later when theyre both evapped
