This is my first post. I'm a schoolteacher in my late twenties from *outside the US*. I used to be really into psychedelics back in university, but haven't had any time for them since then given my 14-hour workdays. Managing kids is a trip in itself, but I truly enjoy channeling energy into my job.
I'll start off by giving some background on why I'm here on this forum, then for the second segment of my post, describe my first proper trip off homemade DMT!
My journey to reacquainting with DMT began about two weeks ago, when I spontaneously thought of manufacturing some at home. I honestly don't know why I did; perhaps it was the so-called "fourth drive" which led me to do so.
With the help of the internet and PayPal, I soon had everything I needed to get started on a basic STB extraction using 100g of A. confusa "root bark" as the primary ingredient. The process was easy enough and an initial extraction only took a few hours, most of which was hands-off as I waited for 50mls of solvent to dry. Eventually, I was rewarded with about 130mg of thick pale-amber goop. An initial test of 10mg in a little "machine" I put together yielded promising results, with moderate CEVs and a general sense of well-being afterwards.
I get that both STB on A. confusa and total evaporation are not regarded as best practices here, but I wanted quick results at the time, with yield and purity being secondary concerns. I intend to perfect my technique and someday get those icy/fluffy shards I keep seeing on these forums.
I digress. Anyway, I got home today and having no other commitments, decided to have a serious go at the goop. I had a nice shower and applied 50mg of product onto the machine, sitting back on my bed to light it up.
INTRODUCTORY TRIP REPORTFirst hit
I drew in a good amount of pink vapour and held it in while counting to 15. "So far so good", I thought. My vision began to vibrate, accompanied by a feeling of lightness.
Second hit
I must have brought the flame a little too close to the bottle neck or packed the DMT very unevenly, because this was a HUGE rip; much denser than the first. I tried counting to 15 again, but I almost immediately started to lose control of my faculties. The corners of my vision began to darken and I began to feel anxious, so I closed my eyes. As soon as I did that, I blasted off into hyperspace!
Hyperspace
The physical sensation I got from this trip was that of my body collapsing into my sternum; sort of like the thrilling, downhill segments of a roller coaster ride. I completely surrendered, and the fear I felt earlier was replaced with a sense of total bliss. I remember thinking to myself: "If death is anything like this, I'll be fine to go when the time comes". Visually, it seemed as if I were falling into/rising through (I couldn't really tell) a square tunnel.
At some point, I noticed a triangular, 2D shape floating at the end of the tunnel (see image below). I've heard disembodied voices during mushroom trips, but this 2D shape was definitely the "source" of what this experience wanted to tell me.
To be honest, I was expecting a more metaphysical takeaway from the 2D shape, but it instead made me reflect on, through visual flashbacks, some scenarios in which I'd been angry towards or otherwise upset with my girlfriend (mainly), family, and some of my students. I generally have good intentions towards other people, but my impatience can sometimes blind me to the perspectives of others. I need to be more patient, or perhaps at least develop a mantra or something. I've always believed that anger is never an appropriate response, but acting in accordance with this belief isn't always easy! I definitely have lots of room to improve at being a better person to others.
Overall, I think I had a great trip, and can't wait to experiment with how purifying the product changes the experience. My lurking on this site has been of critical importance in being able to come this far with making DMT, so thanks to everyone here for that
