Disclaimer: Please speak to your GP first before going down this route.

The issue of elevated heart rate before inhaling comes up a lot. It was something I initially had problems with also and would frequently, negatively taint my experiences.

A very effective way to stop this is beta-blockers...Propranolol in my case. I have never needed any more than 30mg to stop my heart rate elevating. Works perfectly and doesn't interfere with my experiences at all.

I procured mine by going to my GP and telling him I had a problems with my 'fight or flight' response before giving presentations (I study architecture at university) I do sometimes have public speaking issues so it was somewhat a legitimate request...but with an added bonus.

I think beta-blockers are a no-no for people with asthma and other respiratory issues as it can depress breathing. So, please, again, speak to your GP first.

Interesting! I have considered them before but my pre-presentation anxiety isn't that bad unless my project sucks. (I study architecture too)

komet, you might not remember me but you were the first person to inform me about DMT over on the gardenscure years ago. I sent you a pm to where the few remaining freaks from there are now. I'd really appreciate to see you rejoin the old gang Smile Buzzmobile and a few others are over there....

Sorry to be offtopic.

Get some linalool - terpene found in lavender, cannabis, etc. Just a whiff of the stuff from the bottle will mostly calm any pre-flight anxiety that I get, lasts for 10-15 minutes.

I usually find the jitters go away almost immediately upon inhaling the DMT anyway - it's always worse before.

Taken from a thread MAOI and beta blockers

"Most beta blockers would not be suitable treatments for a hypertensive crisis. Non-selective beta-blokers such as propranolol might possibly aggravate a hypertensive crisis by blocking beta-2 receptors, allowing 'unopposed' alpha-1 mediated vasoconstriction."

^^^ Thanks, I should have mentioned I use beta-blockers for vaping DMT only - no MAOI.
