STS is a community for people interested in growing, preserving and researching botanical species, particularly those with remarkable therapeutic and/or psychoactive properties.

I don't usually sign petitions, but this one will be an exception.

I've been to prison for LSD, albeit I was very, very lucky & ended up only serving a few days before my lawyer got me out & on probation.

Godspeed our psychedelic brothers & sisters behind bars.

Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

I think this is a decent idea. Will it work, though? I don't know. I want to say yes but in reality I fear it is a no. There are a lot of non-violent drug offenders sitting behind bars for no real reason except to get "one more damn dirty hippie" off the streets. When will this pointless "war on drugs" end? How far will the government go to achieve their ultimate goal of ridding the world of drugs? I mean, that, in and of itself is laughable.

In one hand, they want to throw people like us in prison for messing around with psychedelics, but the other hand is deep inside the pockets of giant pharmaceutical companies who "crank" out new and dangerous drugs every day. You ever hear the side effects listed off in a commercial for some random blood pressure medication or whatever. Its like listening to an auctioneer where they rapidly fire off all the possible side effects before they run out of TV time. Sometimes one of the side effects is death!

It is sad, really but what can one do? That kind of petition is definitely a start...there needs to be a peaceful revolution on the war on drugs. But what else is new? Razz

This is my position regarding political subjects & situations.

Politics are a fully entrenched ego game that cannot be won.

Nevertheless, due to my empathy & past situations, I just had to sign the petition despite the odds.

It was hilarious after I signed it...change.org sends me a deluge of emails asking if I want to start petition of my own or sign a whole bunch of other ones...I politely unsubscribed & when they asked for the optional "why do you want to unsubscribe?", I responded, "I don't like change".Laughing

Which is half truth....Big grin

I still signed it...even if it goes nowhere, at least we tried! That is what matters most!
