A friend of mine has boiled MHRB in 3 successive batches of citric acid solution and strained the resultant liquid. He's ended up with a pretty huge quantity of liquid which is a bit difficult to work with and he'd like to reduce the quantity to maybe about a quarter.

He has a large saucepan and a ceramic hob. If he simply boils the liquid reasonable rapidly to reduce the quantity of water, is there any danger that the dmt citrate could start to decompose? He's no idea of the stability of dmt citrate at higher temperatures. He notes that some teks recommend reducing the amount of liquid in a wide based pyrex dish in the oven at around 70 degrees centigrade but from experience he knows that even getting rid of a couple of liters in this way can take several hours.

Out of interest he recently reduced a large amount of harmine citrate solution by rapid boiling on the hob and found that there was no loss of product detectable.

Thanks for any help with this Smile
In all of reality there are not two. There is just the one thing. And I am that.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I think your friend will be fine reducing the solution by boiling.

Salt-solutions can't be 'decomposed' at the temperature of boiling water, but prolonged boiling can form additional scum as oils'n'things combine with air.

“I sometimes marvel at how far I’ve come - blissful, even, in the knowledge that I am slowly becoming a well-evolved human being - only to have the illusion shattered by an episode of bad behaviour that contradicts the new and reinforces the old. At these junctures of self-reflection, I ask the question: “are all my years of hard work unraveling before my eyes, or am I just having an episode?” For the sake of personal growth and the pursuit of equanimity, I choose the latter and accept that, on this journey of evolution, I may not encounter just one bad day, but a group of many.”
