Hi all. I have lurked, first post How ya doing? I had a friend who experimented with 60g of MHRB using a Sodium Carbonate/Acetone technique for his first time...haha fun. The only experience he had extracting prior to this was DXM from cough medicine. So this whole process he claimed was very messy in comparison with the drying out and powdering and whatnot.

Anywho, he wanted me to ask you guys if you felt there was a difference in yield from the two types of product, powdered or whole. Also, what is everyone's opinion on Ebay. The feedback on this one guy is pretty nice but my friend still is not sure he can trust ebay.

He is going to use Noman's Tek on 200g this time. How are these materials..is he missing or need more of anything..

200g bark(powder or whole?)
Gallon Pickle Jar
1lb Lye(is ebay ok? Just in case)
VMP Naptha(Or should I use Bestine?)
Sodium Carbonate(instead of Ammonia)
Glass Eyedropper/Stirrer
1000ml Beaker
Thermometer
Pyrex Evap Dish
Hotplate
Shotglass
4-250ml Jars

And I know I am asking a lot of questions but my friend is new to this and wants to learn. On his first extract, what he scraped from his evap dish after drying the acetone was a reddish gunk with an odd smell. Is this Jungle Spice? When he tried to dissolve it in hot naptha he could not get it all to dissolve and was left with a red gunk that seemed to consist mainly of coffee filter fiber and red gooish powder.. What was this stuff? Is it salvageable or worth anything to him? He threw it back in the batch.

Use VM&P naphtha and not bestine for extractions. Bestine is good to use for a final recrystallization, for purification.

Powder the bark, or buy it pre-powdered. Powdering it is kind of a pain, as the dust gets everywhere. Much easier to just deal with the pre-powdered stuff in my opinion.

Ebay should be fine, though I would also check out the suppliers thread for other's experiences with various vendors. Can provide a larger group of places to choose from and positive/negative feedback from people who have first hand experience.

I don't like eBay one bit.

I like www.eCrater.com. There are some very good mimosa vendors there. They have a feedback system just like eBay. In general the quality of what you can get on eCrater is better than what you can get on eBay and often cheaper (because of all the fees eBay charges the sellers). With eBay’s auctions and flee market style selling system, it attracts a lot of scammers, so beware.

Plus, I don’t like PayPal at all. I refuse to use it. Pretty much everyone on eBay uses PayPal. On eCrater lots of vendors use Google Checkout which is much better than PayPal. PayPal has been known to do some really nasty things to their users. There’s even a www.paypalsucks.com web site.

I really like to get the pre-powdered MHRB. I tried whole pieces before and it was complete hell getting that shit into a powder. I burnt up my coffee grind doing it. That shit gets all over the place too, and a mask doesn't seem to help me either as the powder just comes in around the edges. There nothings like blowing red boogers out of your nose for the few days.

I tried an ebay vender once. I was happy with their product at the time, but now that i've tried other sources I don't believe that my MHRB was of the best quality. I now get it from a friend that orders MHRB by the kilos. He hooked me up with a pound for 40 bucks. I am still doing pulls on the batch and right now I have about 5 grams of dmt in my freezer from the batch. More than enough to last my friends and I a long time.

SWIM loves -Pre-powdered bark from Ebay, you can get amazing deals. You can get 44lbs for $900 ... thats alot lets do the math.

lets just say:

5grm yield of spice per lb
220grams of spice for $1000 !!!!CRAZY!!!!

THATS OVER A LIFETIME OF SPICE.....maybe depends on friend ratio
