I just wanted to get some perspective on the topic. 4 weeks ago I experienced a powerful mushroom journey, this was the first psychedelic journey I have taken alone (3/4 alone). The first 3-4 hours were very intimidating and frightening. The only thing I did during this time was sit/lay and feel and ponder. The rest of trip/comedown were very beautiful and enjoyable and I was feeling utter bliss and at one with everything. At the time I really truly felt like this was a very significant event of my life. The thing that confuses me is even before the mushrooms even completely wore off I had forgotten all I had learned and why this was such an important and significant experience. That is why I am writing this. I am so confused as to why I have no recollection of this experience other than the fact that it is very significant, that I experienced a few realizations and that It felt like the experience lasted years. I know I should be patient when integrating (and I deeply want to learn to be more patient), but this is just something that has been confusing me. What do you guys think?

I love you all and am eagerly awaiting your responses! Love Thumbs up

This is actually very common, especially with very spiritual experiences. Don't worry, the revelations will come again in the future, you just have to be patient. I recommend keeping a journal, written during your experiences (much like what we find in much of shulgins work). This can be a very useful tool once you learn to use it, to begin with it might just look like a bunch of gibberish afterwards. For this purpose, I suggest adopting a shorthand (shulgins +/- system for example)

I'm not a big fan of SWIM. I mean, I've never met the guy, but any time I hear about him, he's doing something sketchy.

Your response is much appreciated! Smile As simple as your reply might seem to some, it means a lot to me. It seems to remind me that my time for everything will come and that experiences and revelation always have another day to be shown to you. I will try to be more patient and not put expectations on what it means.

Cheers! Pleased

Well if I came right out and told you the truth of the universe and the reason for life it wouldn't mean nearly as much as it will when it comes from your own self. Also you'd probably tell me I was crazy, not that I'd blame you, I would have too, once upon a time Laughing

Writing stuff down helps.

I think too, sometimes the lessons still get into your consciousness and into your new perspective and way of thinking even if you cant consciously pinpoint the lessons.

Seeing the world through different eyes is a very powerful shift and is very meaningful.

I find that with mushroom experiences it gets easier to remember things as you have successive journeys, the experience is reenforced by this and your mind starts to create a composite.

My first time was twenty years ago, I don't remember much except that we couldn't stop laughing, and with more confidence I started to have solo experiences and discovered that I prefer it over a social setting. For me, I find that its easy to get caught up in someone else's trip (this isn't a bad thing if everyone is on the same page)
The important thing to remember when going it alone is to have a safe setting, this relives a lot of anxiety.

Also with solo journeys, it becomes easier to remember things because you have less outside influences to distract you, at least my experience has taught me this.

I wish you the best of luck in your future explorationsSmile

@BongWizard Definitely, I believe everyone needs to actually experience life for themselves and not just hear about it. Because everyone's perspective and purpose is so different, different things need to be shown to everyone to get them to see what they need to see to change.

@travsha I have been hearing everywhere that keeping a record helps, I will definitely do it for my next journey and am hoping to make this a habit. Also I definitely agree that lessons can be learned by your consciousness without you being able to consciously observe those lessons.

@nemesauce I agree memory of experiences definitely seems to get better after having more of them.
And even after having only one solo experience, I feel as if I will be doing many more of them alone.
It just seems like solo experiences have a lot to offer especially if you do not have any spiritual friends to journey with.

Much love to you all, and best of luck with whatever life brings your way! Love Wink

don't worry about it, same exact thing happened to me on my last shroom journey. the first 2-3 hours were very uncomfortable and kind of scary, it was like it was showing me the wrongs in my life. i just kept reminding myself that i was tripping and not to freak out so i just sat there thinking as you did. the second half of the trip as i was coming down was amazing, that's when my head was clear and i felt great. i think it had to do with the fact that i was out in nature for the second half. a park + shrooms is always a great place to be. there's this happy glow to everything that lasts for the rest of the day after shrooms, i love it.
