I hope this is not fake, but finally FDA is getting open to "alternative" therapy of what is considered as "formal or illegal drugs" which most of the time are stronger and have less side effects as the pharmaceutical therapies or programs where the patient needs to take several doses of chemicals over the time. I consider that most of "illegal drugs" may have a good effect on people if are well administred under supervision and medical treatment.

Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

Well, isn't that nifty!? MDMA has so much potential to help people when administered properly. I hope it is legitimate as well!

Smile

I hope this doesn't take the wind out of the sails of psilocybin therapy. I feel like if the Powers-That-Be are going to reschedule one currently-illegal drug, they'd probably pick MDMA as opposed to psilocybin.

You're probably on point with that natty. MDMA is not a psychedelic in the classic sense, as you know. It is held in regard as having greater potential efficacy for psychotherapy precisely because of that, because of its abilities to break down interpersonal borders, such as between therapist/patient, through its empathogenic and anxiolytic, not psychedelic properties.

I support the use of any effective method to treat the things it's on course for, having seen too many people sink forever in the hell of our current modalities. Psychotropic drugs with high negative side effect profiles and the abscence of any therapy other than group meetings, which are not safe places to work out deep personal traumas or whatever it is.

I'm sure you do too, and I understand where you're coming from as well. There are things psychedelics address very well, and frankly, I don't see much changing even after MDMA is made legal for the majority of HMO/state insurance holders, who aren't covered for one on one therapy as is, and it won't be available for the masses. Maybe, maybe in the V.A. I support accessible therapy as well, and think that a dialogue about it would be appropriate at some point. Peace to you.

I'm in favor all of these drugs entering mainstream medical use, don't get me wrong, I was just pointing out that from a regulatory perspective, MDMA is a much 'safer' drug: the effects, while certainly therapeutic and potentially very healing, are less extreme.

I don't know anyone who, after taking MDMA, was probing the fundamental nature of reality and consciousness, while that seems to be pretty par-for-the-course for those of us who are frequently journeying through the psychedelic realms.

Psychedelics very nearly catalyzed a profound shift in the fabric of American society, MDMA has done no such thing, even when it was widely available and legal.

MDMA can be used against trauma, PTSD and anxiety, but it is not half as versatile as Psilocybin is.
Psilocybin is also less toxic than coffeine, what speaks against its usage?
MDMA can deplete your dopamine/endorphine while psilocybin is self-regulatory via tolerance.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you on the potential for psilo, for many things in many modalities. In sub-threshold (micro)doses, taken on an bi-weekly routine, it's the most effective mood stabilizer/anti-depressant I've ever used. I have a friend who uses it for headaches and chronic pain, to great success, and ended a long and deleterious relationship with prescription meds with it's help. It's more effective for self exploration and a more accessible route to personal transformation without needing a therapist/facilitator than MDMA, IMO.

I think it's what natty said, I think the establishment is concerned about the consciousness expanding properties of psilocybin, and researchers in their desire to see an effective therapy drug legalized from the current schedule I list are focusing on one with the least hurdles in the way. They use the syntax of MDMA being more therapeutically manageable, with less chance of the patient having a psychologically stressful reaction instead of saying that people will experience an awakening and no longer be as easily controlled.Big grin I hope that MDMA will enter into therapeutic use above ground ASAP, and that will lead hopefully to pilocybin soon after, though, we'll see.

What, if any effects on American society and culture in particular will we see happen over the couple generations after therapeutic legalization of a consciousness expanding drug like psilo? Anyone care to speculate? (Off topic, I know...)

Maybe some day the doctors will say to his patient:
Listen, i will administer you some Psilocybin AND some MDMA. Smile
And the patient will say:
What, what? You want to give me an Hippy Flip? Why not throw in some Acid? Rolling eyes

Sure, why not? Jedi flip it is then. Cool
Here is you towel, and remember:
