Hello all!

This is my third attempt extracting from MHRB with d-limonene. I put 100g of sodium carbonate in 30-40 ml of water, then added 100g of root bark and 200 ml of d-limonene. I left it overnight under my kitchen table and this morning I found myself with a solid goo, apparently the d-limonene has been absorbed by the root bark.
In all teks I read said this method benefits from minimal water, and last time when I put too much water it gave me some trouble separating the d-limonene layer from the water+base+bark layer. What should I do to fix this? More water? And why did this happen (don't want to do it again)?

Your doing an STB with sodium carb? Not sure, thought lye was used to degrade material more. plus 30-40ml of water to 100g of root bark isnt enough. for STB you need 15ml of water per 1 gram of bark. Not sure about d-limonene abrobing bark but just incase you could try an A/B so you don't use limonene and bark together. more water helps with emulsions but that doesn't seem to be your trouble here. You can't use naphtha? Don't want to do A/B? Can't find lye?
