I've been doing STB extractions with 1.5L water, 100 grams lye and 100 acrb and pulling with like 75 ml heptane per pull.

Can I add more rb to this? Like could I put in 200 grams of rootbark, keep everything else the same and still work right? Or would zi need to add more water and lye?

I always see lye and root bark ratios matched when looking around the net but I've also seen some people say they've had success with less lye to rootbark, so it makes sense that I'd be able to throwv in more root. Anyone have any experience with this? Does it produce more plant fats ot something and that's why people don't throw us nuch rootbark in as possible?

The lye's purpose is:
- get get pH high enough, for that one needs only a tad of lye;
- to break down the wood/cells, this is the reason more lye (the 1:1 ratio) is used;
- some people use more lye to get a better separation.

You could try and don't discard the bark soup right away, and compare results to see if it matters, and post result here Thumbs up . If yield is lower, the bark still holds actives, and could be exhausted later with an extra lye effort. Fine powder gives easier it's values than chips of wood.

A 10% hydroxide solution is fine. 100g NaOH/Liter of water. I reckon you should change your solvent. (Low solubility at lower temps).

I use powdered ACRB and I use the heptane because it pulls less plant fats. I'm gonna try 1500ml water, 100 grams of lye and 200 grams of rootbark. Probably do four pulls with 50-75ml Hept. I'll try and remember to post results here.

I usually do 20 minutes of stirring the basified water/rootbark solution by hand with a big metal spoon, then do 20 minutes stir of np solvent, let seperate and syphon into evap tray.

Gonna try this tomorrow. Still trying to figure out how to use more root. Bumping this to see if anyone else has any ideas.

200ml water
150G lye (maybe 150G salt too)
200-400G root
Three 75ml Hept pulls

2000ml water
200G lye
250G ACRB

In a 1 gallon jar ( nightmare trying to get the np solvent layer out)

But adding that extra 50G of RB wasn't a problem.
