After cooking the soup for many hours i'm curious if i should filter out the plant material before basification. The plant material swims most of the time on the bottom. Maybe between it is the most DMT. I can wring most of the soup out but maybe there are still more DMT. Should i care?

I prefer to filter before basifying Smile it makes the rest of the process a whole lot easier in my opinion!

I usually do 4x30min acid cooks -> collect water through filter -> filter once more -> boil down to a manageable amount -> filter -> basify -> pull Thumbs up

for filtering I use a couple of layers of undyed cloth

After filtering with cotton, If you don't let the smaller particles settle to the bottom over a couple of days then you might have to use more lye or might run into emulsion troubles especially if you have boiled down to more than half or quarter of your original cook.

I also found when basified it turns gluggy for a couple of hours and in some cases has become an absolute immovable jelly (extraction ruined!)

Yeap. Filter meticulously I say. Putting it in the fridge really speeds things up a bit. But you gotta wait overnight at least. I have a hard time finding a filter that actually grabs the sediment. So I always let it cool and clump to the bottom. I collect all my sediment and freeze thaw it a few more times. And recook it. I have gotten 3 g dishes off of recooks!!
