I recently got into a good discussion about life, death, DMT, etc.

A friend said he was injured as a child and saw his own body from a 3rd person view. Of course I said SWIM had a great experience like that on DMT but he does not think a Consciousness can actually leave the body and that is nothing more than our mind playing tricks on us while under the affects of a mind altering substance (DMT). He conceded that fact that his injury could have caused a DTM trip, but he argues all that we see during a DMT trip is not real.


Then we got into a discussion on what reality is etc.

I do not agree, but then again I am crazy.


Anyway, the discussion escalated to debating energy of the self, is the Consciousness in the brain of a human, however when we die the energy is leaves, but he says without the brain the Consciousness is gone, even if the energy simply changes form, location etc. If that is true, then reincarnation is impossible with previous memories. I do not think so.

I was wondering what the community here thought regarding these subjects.

The simple truth is that, as amazingly far as science has come, it still have NO REAL HANDLE on what consciousness is or where it comes from--they can only say that if you destroy the brain you (apparently) destroy consciousness. I have to say that of all the supernatural effects I've heard of, the very common experience of "looking down upon yourself" experienced by SO MANY people in consciousness-altering experiences (like surgery, or near-death) is...suggestive. I'd like to see it better investigated by research psychologists.

best thing to do mate is say nothing. In a sense, your both right, but both wrong, just as the principle is to space/nothing, it's every limitless varation of possibility existing in every limitless possible way. (you, as everything else is, is and isn't space).

Think about this;
Perception is a space, and within space is space. Now space is a space for any limitless variation of space, so, perception can perceive anything, apart from space itself (it's got no edge) you just allow your self to allow the structure.

Really hope I gave that in a way in which you can allow yourself to recieve it..

Oh, and in case I didn't mention it enough, I'll say it once more 's p a c e'

I have had many many natural "out of body experiences"..and strange alien-esque phenomenon while experiencing sleep paralyisis...could be some specific neuro-chemical phenomenon and nothing more..could be much more..

My mother once had a fully precognative dream about my brothers birth...he was a boy in the dream(she wanted to wait to find out), he was sick and not breathing and the doctors had to take him away and put him on some sort of life support..the umbilical chord had wrapped around his neck and obstructed his breathing..he ended up okay though... ...and that was EXACTLY what happened durring his birth..even the nurses were the same onces from her dream. This is the only time she has ever experienced anything like that. Its just her word, but I dont think she would make it all up.

Exactly..hard to argue that point though..I really feel the same way you do. Non-dualism..when you go down that road language gets quite tricky!
