Hi All,

SWIM was thinking about how to alter their VaporGenie Classic to include a chamber. SWIM has trouble getting enough vapour per hit, as it feels like too much air gets in. SWIM has tried holding the flame closer and this produces thick vapour, however is too hot. If a chamber could be added like a bong, then sufficient vapour can be stored and allowed to cool enough to take large hits.

Has anyone any tips on how a vaporgenie can be modified to include a chamber?

I recommend ditching the GVG for a domeless quartz nail on a small oil rig. Whole setup can be found for 100 USD. Not exactly the answer you were looking for, but it's the perfect solution I found for the same problem. You can clear limitless amounts of spice in a single hit with essentially zero waste (save for the miniscule residue which collects in the rig after several journeys).

Here's a cheapo rig with a quartz domeless for 25 USD, which is unfathomably cheap

Also, I find it to be more efficient than the GVG, as there's no choreboy to get clogged up and the whole process of dabbing the spice is so frugal to begin with.

Does it vaporise or burn the material?

It vaporizes it, although as with the vapor genie user error could result in burning of the material. I find the nail setup much more forgiving though, especially since the color of the nail is a direct and intuitive indication of temperature.

Keep in mind, quartz heats up quite fast. Trial and error is essential. For me the best temp. gauge is holding my finger an inch above the nail. For me, I know exactly how it should feel when the nail is ready. This took a few days to dial in.

Also, as far as quartz quality, generally, the more you pay, the higher quality the quartz. Any of them should get the job done but for better durability, longevity and flavor a nicer nail will be noticeably different.
