I'm wondering about crystalizing from anhydr acetone/tartaric acid.

Question: If you have a Tryptamine oil that you guess might have, say, 2 grams - and you weigh out tartaric in the correct amount for 2 grams and dissolved it in anhydr acetone and add it to the Tryptamine which is also dissolved in the acetone ---

If you then start evaporating the acetone --

Would you reach a maximum concentration in which no more Tryptamine would come out of solution and tartaric acid would start coming out? And, how would you determine when you had reached that point?

Thanks.

Why do you think it would produce dmt tartrate crystals?

This has been observed and is mentioned in some of the teks.

Ive read of dmt tartrate being a gloopy wax. Where did you read dmt tartrate is insoluble in acetone?
I suppose in theory if your process works you would just have to look and judge the differences in the precipitates..if one is much more soluble in acetone than the other..

I was just reading about it earlier but it was difficult to find.

The least soluble will precipitate out first so you would just have to watch it is probably quite easy to tell the difference between them seeing one is a goo the other a solid granule. What is the solubility of tartaric acid in acetone?
Have you thought of just mixing them together drop wise on a plate?

link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10953-013-9960-6 if you can get access to this report then it may answer some questions, if tartaric acid is very soluble in acetone then you could simply evaporate in a bowl and watch the dmt tartrate form a ring around the bowl as it evaporates when the solution becomes more concentrated.

Quote:
Solubility: Easily soluble in cold water, hot water, methanol. Soluble in diethyl ether. Solubility in Water: 1g/0.75 ml at room temperature. 1g/0.5 ml boiling water 115 g/100 ml @ 0 C 126 g/100 ml @ 10 C 139 g/100 ml @ 20 C 156 g/100 ml @ 30 C 176 g/100 ml @ 40 C 195 g/100 ml @ 50 C 217 g/100 ml @ 60 C 244 g/100 ml @ 70 C 273 g/100 ml @ 80 C 307 g/100 ml @ 90 C Solubility in methanol: 1 g/1.7 ml Solubility in ethanol: 1 g/3 ml Solubility in propanol: 1 g/10.5 ml Solubility in ether: 1 g/250 ml Also soluble in glycerol. Insoluble in chloroform

I would expect its solubility in acetone to be somehwere between methanol and water.

Much less than tartaric acid you may even be able to freeze precipitate dmt tartrate.
