Hey guys... Im sorry if maybe this question was answered already but SWIM missed out on all of the limonene tek advances, and only now has found a source of steam distilled orange oil for aromatherapy at reasonable price.

Is dmt freebase soluble in limonene? Would a straight STB work?

SWIM has seen people precipitating dmt acetate out of limonene, and later basifying and using alcohol to dissolve freebase and evap somewhere clean... but SWIM cannot find pure alcohol, only denatured one which he doesnt want to use. What can SWIM do? SWIM has acetone but would prefer to avoid using it. What about some vodka? Considering there would be some water which would take long to evaporate, but time is no problem. SWIM was thinking that even if there is some sort of limonene residue, he will just scrape or vodka-infuse them in herbs. Is that a bad idea?

Or what other options SWIM has with sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide as bases, vinegar as acid and limonene / vodka as solvents ? Also repeating steps and so on to purify is no problem and SWIM would do it if it helps.

Thanks a lot

Hi endlesness,

Limonene can be used for STB, there' s no question about that. Freebase spice is very soluble in limonene. The problem is that the spice cannot be freeze-precipitated out of limonene that's why people salt it out of the limonene using vinegar or any other acid (hydrochloric, citric, fumaric etc.) Jorkest wrote a nice tek for salting out spices out of limonene.

As for the conversion to freebase, unfortunately vodka will not do. The water contained in it will dissolve the base (sodium carbonate or calcium hydroxide) and the salts and they will end up in the final freebase product upon evaporation.

Denature alcohol is perfectly fine as long as one makes sure it is fully evaporated, same goes with acetone. If one does not want to use these solvents, then limonene can be used to absorb the freebases from the water/base/spice salts paste and evaporated. The latter will take some time though... Or one can use naphtha but the yields will be lower since limonene will pull more alkaloids (other than spice) from the STB but they won't be picked up upon retrieval of the clean freebases from the water/base/spice salts paste.

Hope that helps!

thanks a lot, this certainly helped. So vodka no good.. The denatured alcohol would be no problem in case SWIM was strictly planning on smoking it, but its possible at some point he will want to consume it orally, and since the denaturing products added to local alcohol do not evaporate, like bitrex and so on, it might leave a very bad taste which SWIM doesnt want.

Naphtha is also hard to find in the area and anyways this would be SWIM's first attempt at an eco-tek, so would like to keep it that way. Acetone itself is ok but SWIM is unsure what impurities are present in his hardware store 99% acetone, so would preffer to avoid, though maybe will also for the sake of experimentation dissolve the freebase in acetone and evaporate, and compare the result with the limonene evaporated one.

BTW, whats ideal, a dry tek or normal wet tek with sodium hydroxide and powdered mimosa?

and anybody has any idea on the dosage of this limonene residue/jungle spice ? Or will SWIM just have to test himself slowly with the infused herbs and find his dose?

A wet tek seems to work better with sodium hydroxide. With dosage, it seems to vary more than with normal DMT. Aegle had a powerful experiance off 8mg, using Jorkest's tek, but I have average of 60mg (split half and half Jungle and DMT, I keep them seperate.)

I think you will have to experiment to find your sweet spot. Maybe start at 20mg?

thanks, will have to experiment on that then.

So lets say SWIM did an STB, but then precipitate the acetate with vinegar, reuse limonene, evaporate to leave sticky dmt acetate, make paste with sodium carbonate, then use a minimal amount of limonene... Would that leave him a considerably purer product than just STB? How much dmt dissolves in a ml of limonene? SWIM thought that at least there would be less limonene to evaporate, the rest one could reuse, so also less limonene residues. How much in percentage would you guys say is of limonene resudies in the final product's weight (if one can guess/generalize that) ?

What do you guys think of the plan?
