DMTEXTRACTOR: Naphtha pulls better when
not chilled. That said, I can potentially see the reason for using chilled naphtha - pulling less fats - besides the odour issue you mentioned.
Transferring your naphtha pulls via a pyrex jug will help you avoid getting impurities in your crystallization pan. This would be the point for washing the non polar, as 1ce suggests.
Allowing your naphtha (as well, heptane) to cool first at room temperature, then in the refrigerator and finally in the freezer will tend to improve size of any crystals should they form.
And paragraphs help others to read your posts.
Welcome to the Nexus and good luck!
“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
