Although, it wasn't until I got my hands on a strobe light that allowed me to adjust the flicker speed and the light intensity that it became really amazing. By utilizing my sub-ohm vaporizer MOD I am able to easily remain in the space for long periods of time (eyes kept closed) while at the same time adjusting the flicker rate and light intensity to bring into focus a space I was just unable to see without the use of the strobe light. I can tell it's the same space as without the light - but when you click the light on it's like you clicked the light on in the hyperspace place you're in - otherwise dimly lite. Clicking the strobe on and off quickly reveals the dramatic difference. I would encourage others to give this a try. You can simply use a flashlight that has a strobe feature to get the initial experience. However, adjusting the flicker rate seems to phase-sync (bring into focus) the space as you would using a strobe to adjust timing on a machine - appearing to freeze the machine by syncing the timing/RPM. The ability to adjust the light intensity is very helpful as well, however the best effects I've been able to achieve have involved quite bright light shined directly at my closed eyelids. I would be interested to hear reports from others willing to give this a try. I should note that the use of strobe lights can cause seizures in people with epilepsy. I suggest performing this experiment with this in mind. I would also mention these experiments are being done utilizing levels of DMT just short of full breakthrough levels - which of course varies from person to person. Enjoy!
I've never tried it on DMT, but have stared (eyes closed) at strobe lights/bright lights many times on other psychedelics. The visual patterns it induces are amazing. Very kaleidoscope-like and colorful.
I know what you mean about tuning the frequency too; it feels like there's a certain resonance frequency that you have to have it at to get the most intense effects, and you can feel it coming as you're tuning it. I often get peripheral strobing in my vision on psychedelics, and it seems like the closer I tune the strobe light to that peripheral strobing frequency, the more it seems to synergize.
I also have a very bright LED flashlight that I like to use to play with the lighting over my closed eyes. It gives similar effects to the strobe light but less intense.
Maybe someday I'll try it on DMT, but I'm not sure when that will be. I only dip into my stash a few times a year and when I do I usually aim to breakthrough.
You should try shining the strobe light against a white wall in a dark room. I've done that before and the visuals were insane.
