So, I understand that harmalas are short acting and reversible MAOIs, but I keep reading that THH is a weak SRRI and only inhibits monoamine oxidase B in comparison rather than both B and A. I have also read that THH is widely prefered. What I'm confused on is if THH alone would theoretically be a good enhancer of DMT even if it only inhibits B, or if something like harmine should be present to potentiate in pharmahuasca, changa, etc. and THH is just a good thing to have tacked on in addition?

Thanks for any insight.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

There was a thread a while back right about the time of 69ron dissapearing from the nexus.
Someone tested thh on it's own to activate dmt & it did not work.
I don't remember a whole lot but if you can find the thread it should provide some more info.

I think thh is just nice in conjunction with other harmalas & adds its own distinct flavor to things.

It seems THH alone is not effective for activating DMT orally. Adding THH to harmine has been reported to increase the visionary and euphoric effects over using harmine alone to activate DMT.

THH has very weak MAO inhibiting properties, at least 30x weaker in terms of MAO-A and over 50x weaker in terms of MAO-B inhibition compared to harmine/harmaline (source Samoylenko et al 2010).

So forget about activating DMT orally with just THH. It has other pharmacological effects though, and it could be desirable as a part of the mix. For example THH might be responsible for the serotonin receptors increase seen in ayahuasca drinkers, as shown in Callaway's experiments

Thanks guys. I was just reading your thread on the harmala levels in caapi yesterday which got me interested about the topic, endlessness. I hear that it is a prefered thing to have and yet I see it is actually found in levels that are quite low in comparison to harmine and harmaline in the natural plant used to activate DMT most famously. If one was interested in changa and wanted to do a zinc reduction on some full spectrum harmalas from rue, it seems theoretically a good place to start playing with that might just be to do a reduction on only a small portion.

I forgot to mention tregar!
I talked to him over at the ayahuasca forums & he seemed to have done alot of research into thh.
I'm not sure how often he is here but you may be able to get some good info that you'd otherwise have to dig for if you speak with him Thumbs up
