I came across a website recently that sells a fruit called the Miracle Fruit, supposedly it can mask or completely change the taste of sour & bitter foods to sweet!!
I read a number of reviews & write ups & it sounds legit.

I was wondering how it might work to help with the bitter taste of Ayahuasca.
I think I'm gonna order a little bag & give it a try.
It is unfortunately quite expensive!! $60 for like 20 berries.Crying or very sad

Has anybody here heard of, or tried this fruit?

I'll ask the Travler if I can post a link to it here, until then I'll make a quick thread with a link in the suppliers section.

Cheers

Interesting idea really. I'm not sure how it would effect the bitterness of aya. If I understand correctly, the bitterness of aya is caused by the tannins? Am I wrong? If it's tannins, then it's not really a "flavor" that can be masked and more a physical reaction of the tongue to the tannins.

Perhaps I'm far off the mark here, I'm going on read knowledge and not personal experience with aya. And yay for "miracle fruit!" Always wanted to try it.
Nothing said on this account is true. It's all fictional for artistic writing purposes.

Well it coats your taste buds with it's juices so I'm not sure it matters what the bitter taste is?

Interesting though!

Yeah it IS legit for sure. I posted this topic, and ordered some for myself. I seen em around and such on the net, did not take note not, not sure if it was legit. But when I seen it on the TV on some show (Beyond Tomorrow I think), I knew it would be pretty damn legit.

I need to get back to that guy to see how hes going on getting new stock Confused . Other then that, if Ayahuasca tast bitter, then these things WILL/SHOULD make it taste sweet, if not much better. Tablets are just meant to be the fruit extract, and starch.

edit: oh BTW are links to the site below (that sells the tablets and such), meant to be posted in the Suppliers thread? Was not sure if this is a rule, will check up on this

Ordered mine, but the guy ran out of stock! God damn it! I sead to him not to refund, just send them in a weeks time when he gets new stock. This is an aussie site, so don't be afraid to order from another. 90% of the time the shipping fee is so much cheaper ordered in the same country (as it would).

For people who have no idea about this fruit, read below!

Quote:
The miracle fruit, or miracle berry plant (Synsepalum dulcificum) produces berries that, when eaten, cause sour foods (such as lemons and limes) subsequently consumed to taste sweet. The berry contains an active glycoprotein molecule, with some trailing carbohydrate chains, called miraculin.[3][4] When the fleshy part of the fruit is eaten, this molecule binds to the tongue's taste buds, causing sour foods to taste sweet. While the exact cause for this change is unknown, one hypothesis is that the effect may be caused if miraculin works by distorting the shape of sweetness receptors "so that they become responsive to acids, instead of sugar and other sweet things".[5] This effect lasts 15-30 minutes.[6]

I cannot wait to try yucky steamed vegetables! And other things that are healthy, but taste like crap! Would be great! Would greatly enhance my training being able to eat a big bowl of vegetables, without drinking it all down with water!

Even better, I dump a load of sugar in my coffee at the market... With the MB (in tablet form), I won't need to put ANY sugar in my coffee, and it will be sweet as! I mean, I think I am well on my way to becoming diabetic, with the amount of sugar I put into my coffee each day!

Also. On a side note. This MB could very well make Spice taste wonderful?

By the way. I did a fast search, nothing came up about the miracle berry. so, yeah.

the tablets or a live plant seem to be like the best option unless u can get berries locally.
Swims always wanted to try these with cactus tea - doubt it would work but if it does can u imagine how nice that would be - nice sweet tasting cactus tea, followed by a delicious purge.

i tried the tablets a while back. I didnt have a lot of things to try, but lemons, tasted like some sweet lemonade. I could see this used as maybe a non sugar sweetener or something. I never tried aya but i cant see this masking or changing the taste much, same for cactus sludge.

I've tried it, it's insane.

You can eat lemons and they taste like candy.

Pomegranate juice tastes like honey!

From what I've read, you have to break up the Berry in your mouth & swish it around for a minute or two to get the juice to cover the whole of your mouth, before spitting out the seed & swallowing the fruit.

It also said that what it does is cover the taste buds in a certain chemical in the juice that changes the way the taste buds sense flavors.
Kind of like a psychedelic for your mouth only.Rolling eyes Laughing

This makes me wonder how well the tablets work in comparison to the fresh fruit.
One of the website mentions that the berries can be frozen for up to three months...so score one for the tablets.

Wish I had the funds to order up both & compare.
Antone know of any other places that sell them in smaller quantities?

BTW, HERE is a link to the suppliers section with the link to the site I've been talking about.

I got my tablets today. I ended up using a whole tablet. I tried a lemon, it tasted like a lemon that had sugar infused in it Smile . Like a sour sweet. I then tried a grapefruit, it tasted great! No hint of sour/bitter, only a hint of weak grapefruit after taste. I then wanted to test coffee, it did not go as well. It made the bitter taste a bit weaker, but that could be because I made it weaker (to much water).

I think raw fruit would work better then tablets, you would need to test em. I would test both, but I think my MBs would go off by the time they came into Australia. And I am sure Customs would freak out seeing some mystery berriesLaughing .

If you want someone that supply smaller amounts, check link in my topic. And do it soon, I am pretty sure I am not allowed to have link in my topic other then the "link" topic. Unless you mean a link that sells the fruit as rawr form, or tablet form as well

So far, I rate this 7/10. I am yet to try steamed vegetables, and other foods. So a final score cannot be done just yet.

2nd thought, PM me if you want the link. I will take it off now.

I was really thinking about this. But Australia being like it is, customs will probably pull it up, and confiscate it... They often freak out with seeds, and most other foreign "living" objects.

It is not too hard to get things into the land of Kangaroos!

Since Synsepalum dulcificum isn't illegal, it should be fine!
