I just had a thought about filtering & decabting the sediment from brews (rue, mimosa, acacia, etc. not caapi).
Why not use a bubble bag setup the same way you would with bubble hash?
Start with larger micron & work down.
Some sediment may still be too fine & make it's way through, but it seems like it would be much easier to run it through cotton filters with the largest sediment particles removed.

I havn't smoked hash or marijuana in years so i have no problem buying & dirtying up a bubble bag kit for use strictly with brewing.

Bubblebags are kind of expensive... It's not like you need to collect various sizes (and specific sizes) of these brewing sediments.
You can simply use a cloth: an old t-shirt, a kitchen cloth... and then a cotton filter or coffee filter.

Wut? the point was that bubble bags catch finer sediment much better than a t-shirt & allow for liquid to flow through while grabbing all but the tiniest particles, rather than restricting flow & needing to repeatedly be replaced like cotton.

Seems like the time saved may be worth the money, especially if your using it to filter brews on a regular basis.

The point is that those bags are expensive and that useing them for filtering brews will kill them = If you let the mixture drop through naturaly it will take ages and the mixture has a good chance of going off or at least being contaminated in that time . The bags will get ruined because one has to wring / squeeze them out = The holes get damaged = the filter doesnt work properly anymore .

One can buy filters like that from wine or screen printing shops that are MUCH cheeper . General advice = KEEP AWAY FOM " HIPPY " SHOPS as all the things you need can be got much cheeper from other sources . That includes grow shops and a lot of the things in " smart " shops . For example a kilo of P.Harmala costs about 10 euros in an asian goods shop and all / most of the things in a grow shop can be bought much cheeper from a garden center .

You want it clean ......... IF and when the foto upload function here gets fixed i'll post you a picture of what it looks like when its been filtered . Instead of doing what you sugest do as was said = Use a t-shirt or something similar ...... and then put the mixture in a container and let it stand in the fridge = The bits you dont want fall to the bottom and it clears up ...... just like when one makes wine .

I have a decent brewing method figured out already & it works well.
I do know what a clean brew looks like, i've added the egg white tek before reduction & filtered with a shirt & fridge settled many times before.

I'm looking for a better way to filter.
I do appreciate the advice on avoiding grow shops & hippy shops though.

& i figured the liquid would flow through the bubble bags fairly quick but then again i've never actually used a bubble bag set & i'm assuming you have.

I've never used a bubble bag i used a filter bag from a wine makeing shop . The mesh is especialy for filtering and is good for sieveing hash .

I've done it a lot . The grease and sticky stuff in the mixture line the inside walls of the bag and block it up just like coffee filters . Holding the top of the bag and twisting it to force the liquid through is very inafective and also pushes slime and fine bits through it as well = They get blocked very quickly .

After filtering its orange red and the consistancy / thickness is like good sherry . Maybe i'm perverse but for me it tastes like chocolate mixed with whisky and not bitter at all .

Uploading and posting fotos doesnt work reliably / consistantly . Sometimes it works but mostly it either doesnt or it messes the foto up .

Do you know, there are 2 ways to post a picture : attached (upload from your PC) or inserted (link to the pic hosted on the web). Hope it helps.

Sounds like it's no good for sludgey brews then Thumbs down

The slime pushing through thing reminds me of filtering cactus sludge Laughing

I may jusy have to go with a vaccum filtrarion setup with a good quality electric pump when i start brewing again.
