I've been thinking about the social sciences a lot lately, and I was wondering if anyone here has any commentary or links to data about DMT use among certain races/ethnicities and in various countries around the world.

I would assume that ayahuasca use is very prevalent in countries such as Peru, whereas extracted DMT is probably more popular in the United States and Europe. But how about among whites/blacks/Asians in the US? Have any studies even been done about this?

Furthermore, do you think there are countries where there is little to no DMT whatsoever? I keep imagining ones like Saudi Arabia and North Korea, but I always feel that there are little pockets of users present. What do you think?

Sorry to bump my own thread, but I have to add that after doing my own research I have not been able to find anything regarding the stats that I specifically asked for.

I did find this one link on a drug forum about black people possibly having a tolerance to DMT: http://www.bluelight.org.../index.php/t-480162.html

While the posts on that thread do not seem very scientific, it does make me wonder whether people with different genetics respond differently to the DMT experience. This has also raised the question for me whether certain cultural diasporas would have different classes of experiences.

It may be possible that it just varies person to person and that everyone simply has a different experience. But if someone is exposed to more cultural elements, then they might be more likely to experience those during a trip.

I have been reading some material about Afrofuturism lately. This describes how some rap artists as part of the early Hip Hop movement embraced futuristic tones/ideas. Some even wanted to have black people establish colonies back in Africa, or on the moon or other planets to escape white oppression. However I theorize that they were more looking for an ideological exodus from segregation and discrimination; they wanted society to move away from these ideals.

I have also noticed a slightly higher percentage of African Americans who use DMT over LSD and mescaline. What I may have been getting at with my first post is the possibility that some black people use DMT as a means of escape from a generally oppressive white society, where they can go to a world that is more authentic and not so discriminating based on things that aren't individual choices.

I'm not just thinking about black people however; this same theory could apply to any minority, including general misfits. I don't want to get into a discussion about escapism, but is it possible that some people of certain social identities are more prone to DMT use than others? Or is use just situational? A lot of the difficulties here arise from the legal status of DMT which prevents statistical research, but the Nexus is probably one of the best places to start.
