IF SWIM would have wash a spicy NPS with sodium carbonate water, would it be possible that sodium carbonate got into the spicy NPS? Because when he would try to freese precipitate it, he would find the snow would form in a pretty unusual way... like in one big clump, that would be pretty weird...

thanks for reading!

It is solutely possible. Sodium bicarbonate/carbonate can leave a craptastic residue. I usually just wash with plain 'ol distilled water for DMT.

Sodium carbonate shouldn't be soluble in a NPS...

So how would it precipitate out?

Precipitate? Nobody said it had to dissolve. But a mechanical influence could have assisted in its transfer with the solvent. It's given me trouble in the past.

Maybe if someone would get a little bit of water in the precipitation jars?

When shaking nonpolar solvent with aqueous sodium carbonate, very tiny water droplets can be formed and these may float in the nonpolar for quite a long time. Put the jar aside for maybe 15 minutes to allow the tiny droplets to settle and stick to the bottom of the jar. After that, the nonpolar can be decanted into a clean and dry jar for freezing.

Even with plain water washes, the micro droplets will interfere with freeze precipitation by freezing into water ice "snow" crystals. These are rather harmless, they will evaporate together with the nonpolar solvent remains.

Another option is to pour the nonpolar through some coffee filters, these will absorb the water droplets. This will only work if there only a tiny bit of water in the nonpolar, it is not a replacement for a separating funnel. It may also cause quite a bit of DMT-laden nonpolar solvent to be left behind in the paper filter, making the extraction less efficient.

Why not just run a small volume of clean, warm solvent thru the filter after it dries 3x & reclaim the trapped spice?

Yes, this is why (even if you do a sodium carb wash) you should wash the solvent with distilled water. Then you can dry the solvent over MgSO4.

It's possible to wash a naphta that i used to pull from ACRB and that i put in some acidic water to defat?
It assumed a yellow colour... I dun know if its possible to reuse it

If you wash naptha you used to extract with acidic water, you will convert the DMT in the naptha to an acid salt. That is fine, but be aware your DMT is now in the water and you will need to rebasify/extract it into a solvent again.
