Thought this would be an interesting discussion, especially with the growing number of DMT users. Personally I first heard about it through like minded friends in college.

oh wow, man, its hard to even exactly remember how i first heard about dmt. if i had to guess and really think back specifically id say i came across dmt while researching my mushroom experiences on the shroomery after tripping and listening to Terence Mckenna. From the shroomery forums i stumbled across this place in 2007-08 and signed up and started lurking, reading and occasionally posting. After finding dmt nexus a like minded friend got it touch with me and coincidentally had a powerful entheogen he wanted to share with me, lo and behold it was dmt and ive been fascinated ever since.

Some dude I met on a video game told me about this DMT and Salvia and shown me some Terence and Joe Rogan links. Truly loved it. I never even heard or thought of psychedelic mushrooms. Rolling eyes

I knew nothing of DMT when I had found it; all but a short 1 minute description from my friends older brother. " Yeah, this is what's released when you pass on." Heh, immediately it threw me for a loop, thinking "Yeahh ..I don't know about this.." But through caution to the wind, not realizing what was about to happen. He brought out a small bag with what he said was a gram of yellow/whitish freebase, that intense indole smell. I remember smelling it and thinking "i dont know about thiss..." Very happy

I was sat down on the couch and he told me to lay back. Piled an unknown amount into the chillum on top of some cigarette ash. Dim lighting from the covered lamp off to the left cast light on the side of my friends face, casting shadows. Took the first drag, immediately drew a thick cloud of vapor, not harsh in the least. After about 10 seconds, the shadows on my friends face started to morph, break apart, move in unison. His smile broke apart into spinning tubes of light, like a hyper neon cheshire cat from egyptian lineage.

That had been enough for me. I was overtaken by this immense pressure, and this feeling of "Remember!?," I had no words, they turned back appalled. All description disintegrated into pure paradox. Everything just slipped right off. I was shown single celled organisms, and evolution from that stage up through, complexifying into more complex things, to planets and the like, all springing forth from this ineffable ground of existence that is housed by energies that take form and are multi faceted. Reality abides here. All abides here.

I had lost all sense of the music that had been pounding in the back ground. During the initial comeup (and only time this ever happened) there was this intense static-y sound that overtook as the pressure intensified, which inevitably lead into the experience. Never again has it happened. Later come to find out terrence mckenna and him describing the crinkling of cellophane. I was like o_O

That is how I found out about DMT. Razz

Big grin awesome, Tatt. You didn't really have time to realize that most people think they should be "prepared" or "ready" for DMT. Not you, no time to doubt or question. Sit here. SMOALK!

Enter the Void. So basically through my love of foreign films.
Me and a friend then spent the next 2 years trying to find some one selling spice.
Eventually I decided to try an extraction.
Thank you Gaspar Noe and the Nexus.

Some great replies, you guys are some heady people ha! Thanks for voting, I find it very interesting to discover how people find out about DMT considering DMT was/is a relatively obscure drug even among psychedelic users.

2 years ago I found a passion vine growing in a friends yard. I didn't know what it was but found it online, read that it contained beta carbolines, then that led to ayahuasca and the rest is history.

I was at a festival and watched a friend hit it, and the look on his face..........intrigued me to say the least. Didn't seek it out until a couple years later though, after enjoying some shroomy times and having a desire to see what else there was......with lots of interwebz reading along the way. Home sweet home, thank you Nexus!!

Just reading the internet about neurotransmitters particularly serotonin, I guess it was associated closely enough that it popped up

I found dmt through reading up all i could find on mushrooms, lsd, dxm, & ketamine at a young age.
The first place i heard anything about dmt was a trip report on erowid when i was 16.
From then i researched all i could & continued to use psychedellics knowing i'd eventually get to experience dmt when the time was right.
Fast forward 9 years & i was finally in a position to start working towards extracting myself & finally got to experience it after nearly a decade of waiting, hoping, & wondering if i'd ever actually get to even encounter it Smile

I came across Dmt on erowid originally but forgot about it until I was watching joe rogan on youtube after his description I had to try it.
Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
Red and yellow then came to be,
reaching out to me, lets me see.
There is so much more and it beckons me to look though to these,
infinite possibilities.
As below so above and beyond I imagine,
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Yeah, it's really odd when I look back on it all, especially where im at now with my life in relation to the molecule. Always ask myself, "What were the chances; how did I just so happen to stumble across something like this, leading to a complete re-vamping of my life in terms of my relationship to how I view this reality we're a part of and how I view myself.

It makes me laugh, every time Razz

Feels so surreal.

Feels like a dream..

DMT taught me that every moment of my life has mattered, and led me to here. Now. This moment. What were the chances? 100%.

I'm quite sure I was a 9th grader on Erowid, who had smoked weed, and had an intense interest in psychedelics. But it was just that yellow crystal picture that I remember on there, and I never thought I'd have the opportunity to try it, the extraction materials all seemed so far off and impossible. I ended up trying it sometime late into 10th or early 11th grade however. I had tried a very fair amount of mushrooms and LSD by then, and was pretty acquainted with psychedelia. It was from some friends who I no longer know now that I had my first few doses. Through some strange serendipity and circumstances, I extracted it in 11th grade I believe.. and that's when I had my first real breakthrough.

I developed a fascination with the mystery schools of ancient Babylon all the
way up to modern Freemasonry, Rosicrucians, and a few others. Kind of on this
search of what is the real meaning of this crazy ass life oh yeah and also I
wanted superpowers, haha, I wanted the power to change my reality. Anyway I ended up
finding out some of these ancient traditions used mushrooms and or other entheogens,
and ended up watching a video on ayahuasca. After that went bananas trying to brew it
myself at home while my wife and kids were all staring at me because I was cooking
branches, lol. First 4 brews believe it or not didn't do anything! I did a 5th with some rue
and had a very slight effect, kind of just some visuals nothing deep. I said screw it and
tried and extraction and low and behold I had spice!!!!!! Had nothing to smoke it in
made my own little pipe and took a small hit and it rattled me good, I kept my eyes open
cause I got scared and never felt anything like it. 2 days later I sniffed I think 80mgs
and oh my god! I was gone!!!!!! Good timesSmile

First knew of Dimitri from discovering and listening to this song back in 2011. My imagination was expanding to the sound and beat, and low and behold it actually existed in my brain! I also just realized from this song is when I discovered Joe Rogan and his podcast, which then lead me to the DMT Spirit Molecule by Straussman. I then found others alike here. Love

I agree totaty. It's taught me the same thing. Nothing was random, I think the plants knew of me long before I knew about any of this stuff, they want their ranges expanded into new locations, and need humans to help.

I first read about DMT as a teenager, reading a book called Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test.

The passage was a recollection of the Merry Pranksters giving LSD and DMT to members of the Hell's Angels and it described DMT by saying that LSD is like a long strange trip, and DMT is like being shot out of a cannon.

This description had me actually terrified of DMT, particularly after experiencing LSD. I would have never tried it if it weren't for my cluster headaches, and finding about the relation between DMT and sumitriptan, as well as reading about the Shipibo peoples' use of chacruna sap in aborting migraine headache.
