Hey All,

Just wondering whether anyone has any good recommendations regarding books (on DMT) ?

Not really sure what aspects of it I would like to read about, a blend of both the scientific and spiritual elements would be nice.

I know there's a lot of information on the internet but I really want to relax and get stuck in to a good book Smile

Any suggestions ?

Not really a book per se. And not really just about DMT. And very much a scientific approach.

None the less it is a recent paper and here is the manuscript. I paid for this not only in tax dollars but also paid for the pre release; therefore I feel I have every right to distribute it.

Unfortunately there is a ton of misinformation due to the opinionated nature of DMT. Lots of books tend to focus in the experience even though it is vastly different for everyone. The better books are those that just lay out other peoples experiences. I'm not to fond of the books that take a first person perspective because it is so limited to that person.

The best actual book I have read: http://www.amazon.com/Ay...;sr=1-8&keywords=DMT

Also check out vices articles on it. They usually take a pretty unbiased explanatory view on the drug.

"DMT: The spirit molecule" of course, by Rick Strassman. Very good book.

Tryptamine Palace by James Oroc is probably my favorite, although it is more about 5meoDmt. Very nice blend of new science and spirituality.

Others which are not entirely about dmt but are great to read through

Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Nearby
Anything by Terence McKenna but especially the Archaic Revival
Supernatural by Graham Hancock
Psychedelia by Patrick Lundborg

Good books about Ayahuasca

Wizard of the Upper Amazon - great story about traditional tribal life told by someone who was kidnapped at a young age to mold into the leader of an aya using tribe.
Fishers of Men by Adam Eleenbaas - modern healing in the modern west
Ayahuasca in my Blood by Peter Gorman - westerner turned shaman in traditional setting
Aya Awakenings by Rak Razam - tale regarding aya tourism

Other fun books not necessarily scientific at all -

Back from the void by zoey7 and breaking open the head and 2012 by Daniel pinchbeck

Not sure what you have read so far but hope this helps

Thanks inaniel I will definitely have a look at these online.

TwennyBux, I was kind of hoping some one would mention that book because it was the one I wanted to read, but wanted a second opinion from someone on here,

Definitely going to order the Strassman book, and may order some of inaniels suggestions too.

Thanks everyone - much appreciated !

On the topic of literature about ayahuasca, might I suggest Pharmako/poeia by Dale Pendell? It's not about ayahuasca in particular (it's more of a catalogue of psychoactive plants), but it has a whole chapter on its effects and traditional uses. Very interesting if you're into that kind of thing.

I have been meaning to watch that doco but haven't got around to it, I believe it is based on the book but I may be wrong. If you use a smart phone or whatever, get the Scribd app it has a free trial period and then a monthly subscription which I forget how much but is pretty cheap and you get access to all these books including the spirit molecule. I'm reading it on my phone at the moment. Definitely recommend it.

I'm also gonna check out Tryptamine Palace as recommended by inaniel. I have been meaning to read it for a while, I suppose I should probably finish this other book first..

Yeah I've ordered the spirit molecule to read first, I was hoping the more recent books, like the one you mentioned, are as good as the spirit molecule supposedly is. However, I saw a topic on the forum here a couple of days ago mentioning that the new books are not as good, which would be a shame.
