Hello travelers

I have studied a little bit about the promising Max-Ion tek for theoretical purrpose only, and a few question came to my newbie mind.

Would it be useful to do a sodium carbonate wash on my solvent prior to evap with this tek?

IF an imp would like to try it with 100g mhrb instead of 50g, would the quantity of water, vinegar, salt, lye and naphtha be the same? if not, how to adapt the quantity porperly

WOULD a defat be absolutely useless with mhrb?

Excuse me if those have already been discussed, but i did my best to search the answers with no success.

Thanks for reading

Hey,

If you want to do 100 g it's probably easiest to just do two bottles, I did this over the weekend and it worked really well.

And no, you can't just double up on the extraction quantities, if you learn how the extraction works you will realise it's about attaining certain pH levels and not just about certain quantities of acids and bases.

If it's your first time you should probably try a 50 g extraction and begin to understand how the process works, that should save you losing large amounts of reagents and bark in one go if something goes wrong.

I'm still on a learning curve myself and doing it this way seems to help, plus smaller extractions are a lot easier to handle and less mess involved.

Good luck !

I think the general consensus is that a defat is not necessary with MHRB.

Regarding the sodium carbonate, I'm not sure I have never used it. Someone else will be able to help you with this though.
