Hello all, First of all I would just like to say thank you for this wealth of information. This forum has been incredible.
Now a couple of weeks ago a friend and I ordered some mimosa and caapi b and brewed up a batch of Ayahuasca. We cooked it three times.
We took 2 10 gram doses each but only after the first dose had run its course.
Now we did this for 2 Sundays in a row and experienced some extremely profound and incredible moments.
I threw up each time we did it, the second weekend quite a few times (but I also went to hyperspace for quite a while). My friend did not vomit at all either time.
During that week I also smoked dmt for the first time and was sent on an incredible journey into hyperspace as well.
Now two days after the last time I drank it I started to experience this chest pain that would come and go, sometimes coming on with a massive intensity feeling like I was having a mini heart attack. I remember on two occasions thoughts of going to the hospital were going through my head. Eventually though the pain would go away after about 10-15 minutes and thing would return to "normal".
The feeling of the pain was almost like there was some kind of clotting or blockage in my cardiovascular system and massive pressure was building up right in the middle of the chest.
Because of this I decided to skip our new ritual and my friend went and did 2 x 10 g doses of Ayahuasca by himself. Because of having issues reaching hyperspace he decided to smoke 30 mg of dmt while on his second Ayahuasca session. He experienced an incredible amazing journey and was finally able to reach hyperspace. Claiming he saw god and had some amazing self realizations (more on that later).
2 days later after having a double expresso and digesting a whey protein drink he began to experience the same kind of chest pains. Over the last 4 days he has been suffering from the same kind of attacks as I did but his appear to be more severe. Almost to the point of calling an ambulance on the last occasion. We are making arrangements to go and see a doctor right away.
He did mention that during his last Ayahuasca trip he was dehydrated and did not drink any water during the trip as to not dilute the experience.
The pain at it's peak is very crippling and feels as though you can feel your blood flowing through your body and also with severe chest pain. Eventually it subsides and it at some point feels like everything is fine. Then all of a sudden it comes on like an attack.
Things that we have noticed could exacerbate and cause an "attack" smoking weed, cigarettes, coffee,
After about 5 days my chest pain has gone away for the most part yet I did experience a minor attack yesterday that lasted for about 10 minutes.
Any ides what to do here guys? Obviously we are going in to see a doctor asap. Has anyone heard of this happening or have any kind of possible explanation for us? There is nothing else out of the ordinary with our lifestyle that could really account for this. The only new addition is dmt and mimosa over the last two weeks.
If any more information is needed please let me know. Thanks for any help.

I think you would be wise to see your doctor so a fuller history can be taken and a physical exam performed. The fact that both of you have suffered chest pains, the triggers you mention and the recurrent and non-exertional nature of the pain suggests to me an esophageal cause BUT to be sure of this I would suggest you see your doctor as more info is required. I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Better stay away from all stimulants and unprescribed drugs until you have seen a doctor. It seems to me, that although you've experienced chest pains you took substances that were doing you not good. And even though a lot of ppl here are smoking DMT and claim miraculous effects, I hardly believe that this method is doing your body any good. There are better ways to get this substance in your system. Pure POV though.

Definatly quit smoking pot. Sorry but I just have to say this..cannabis and coffee do this..it might have never happened in the past but once it did start to happen for me, cannabis and coffee wuld both bring it on..especially cannabis. It sounds also sort of like a panic attack. I have had that chest feeling tons of times after smoking cannabis or drinking coffee..It's terrible. Harmalas(ayahuasca) can have efects that go for days. I know that lots of people dont know this or dont experience this..but harmalas can have secondary effects that can go for a week even if you get a large dose. I have experienced this and in the wake of those expereinces you want to avoid other strong psychoactives like cannabis and caffine as everything seems amplified when your nervous system is sensitive like that. I dont know the science behind this and I really dont care at this point..I just have extensive experience drinking ayahuasca and I know that it can change your nervous system or something like that for a period of time after certain sessions. I dont know why it does not always do this..but high doses of harmalas seem to do it almost always. Im not going to say it's a "bad" thing but it does make me more sensitive to the point where a tiny piece of chocolate even 48 hours later can send me into panic. I just become extremely hypersensitive..to sound, to light, to movement(getting motion sickness at times) and to psychoactive substances. I rarely dose high with vine or rue now becasue of this. I keep the dose just high enough to activate the admixture. If I do dose high I have to make sure I have days to recover. Long live the unwoke.

As unlikely as this solution may (or may not) sound to you OP, I have to agree with jamie, and also add the cigarettes onto the list of probable causes. I watched this trifecta destroy my roommate in a similar fashion, and he has never taken ayahuasca. The biggest factor was the caffeine for him, and he can now almost guarantee an attack even from drinking mildly caffeinated tea now. He's proven to me it's possible to alter your biochemistry in such a way that the body will no longer tolerate certain things. You've already got the list of what triggers/exacerbates the attacks in you, so best advice is keep those to a minimum for a week prior and following ayahuasca, and try also to keep them at reasonable levels in your daily lives (it would ultimately be in your best interest to move away from daily use - you'll also enjoy them way more) And stay the fuck away from energy drinks!

I have had that chest feeling tons of times after smoking cannabis or drinking coffee..It's terrible. The other day with my first pharmahuasca trip, after the peak I experienced lots of bodily pain, which I later decided must have been a panic attack. My chest was among the parts that hurt. It went away as I sobered up and I've been great since. Since then I'm on an extended break from cannabis, as I've been "abusing" it for the past couple years and it's not helping me anymore, just making me more in my head, which I don't want. Also I want to give my lungs (body in general) a break for a while from pot and any other drugs. Hope everything goes well and you stop getting these pains [center]Sophia's Light
In darkest night, when lights are dim, and all in sight seems sad and grim, I find you there, your arms surround me, your spirit fills me and it grounds me. I look to you, Lady of Truth, most ancient One, yet eternal youth,to keep me safe, protect my heart, and with the wisdom you impart, fill up my empty mind and soul,so that, my Lover, you can make whole, all that was broken in this day –and that is what I ask and pray.

During a period of my life where i was abusing psilocybe pretty heavily, i started to experience what felt like my heart stopping and starting while tripping. As you can imagine i felt like i was dying, and this strongly colored the trip. I was smoking a lot of weed consuming coffee all the time and smoking cigarettes throughout this period of time.
The attacks you describe sound very similar if not identical to the attacks i go through. Fast forward two years later from when these started to keep this short and to the point. Whenever i eat large amounts of food or have changes in eating habits, or eat lots of foods that make you gassy I get this "panic attack" that feels like my hearts stopping and starting. Smoking cigarettes does this, caffeine does this, pot does this, in fact every chemical or lifestyle choice that influences your stomach has the potential to bring these on.
Through a lot of reading online I've speculated that i might have a hiatal hernia. Reason being is hiatal hernias seem to have a high likelihood of putting pressure on the vagus nerve which in turn makes my heart go freak for a minute or two. Now the hiatal hernia may not even be an issue here thats just speculation but i am convinced this has everything to do with the stomach and vagus nerve.
Interestingly enough lately this hasn't been affecting me as much and ive been conditioning my body to handle increasing amounts of caffeine, nicotine vapor, THC. Im not sure how ive done it but a lot of it has to do with treating the attacks like panic attacks that aren't real. Ive gone through so many that when they happen i am convinced they aren't dangerous, I can minimize my stress by viewing it this way and perhaps through less cortisol release or some placebo-mind mechanism it just doesn't happen as frequently anymore.
Anticholinergic (benadryl) reduce vagus nerve activity. I took these for the attacks thinking benadryl anti anxiety this will help, and then later found through research that people with hiatal hernias experiencing vagus nerve attacks or just people in general experiencing vasovagal attacks can take benadryl because it directly affects the vagus nerve and is what doctors would prescribe for that situation.
These attacks are heavily connected with stress and nervous system sensitivity when i took my shrooms i was also taking saint johns wart and ginseng at the time with my dose, and the potentiation of the experience was unreal, no doubt similar to DMT + Harmline. Maois have strong interactions with your stomach in multiple ways. Psychs and MAOIS and Stims all increase nervous system sensitivity, all three of these can potentially release excessive cortisol.
To summarize, i do believe this is esophagus/GI related as somebody above mentioned earlier. The connection between stress and substance use (almost all drugs affect the stomach in one way or another) is very strong in my own experiences and even your own reported experiences. Its not fatal, it does get better (lessen stress and fatigue on the body and coach yourself through the negative experiences like you would a bad trip or panic attack) The mind makes the experience worse by anticipating the event.
I also realize this is a very old post but i feel that this information would be very helpful to the right person searching for help on these kinds of events. I think the most important thing for people to know is that they aren't alone, it gets better and your not going to die. These things feel like heart attacks (to people who have never experienced a real heart attack) because of where its located.
