It's strange, and nothing like I've heard anywhere else.

When I drink Ayahuasca, the first few hours show some effects, but the experience is not very immersive. I take the opportunity to communicate with the plant. I feel a little altered, yes. My mind gets active, and something happens, but it's super subtle and under my radar.

Here's where it get's weird. I get hungry. Very hungry. Sometimes just a few hours after taking the Ayahuasca, but I know to hold off a bit.

For the next two days, give or take, I am very hungry. Ravenous. Then, at about the 48-hour or 72-hour mark, when I have eaten to satiation, when I really feel no more trace of hunger in my body, then the experience begins.

Then I have the classical Ayahuasca experience. Visionary, productive insights, feeling of energy moving around my body, and purge-y effects. Not exactly nausea, but deep yawning and opening of the chasm of my throat to let whatever needs to come out, come out. I have not yet purged on Ayahuasca, but I feel the purging state approaching as I do more and more.

I'm not lying: It takes at least 2 days for the effects of Ayahuasca to hit me. This has been experienced on brew made with Caapi and Chacruna, and Rue with Acacia confusa.

Maybe you're actually tripping so hard 45 mins after ingestion that you're hallucinating the two days of waiting. Surprised

I had something similar happen to me when I ate/drank ayahuasca. The first time I ever used harmala/dmt plants in situ it was with ACRB and Syrian rue mixed with applesauce and eaten (disgusting, I know). I noticed no effect from the concoction until I drank a glass of OJ and ate a banana 2 hours later. Minutes after ingesting food, it hit me like a freight train. Visions. Entities. Dissections. Decapitations. Every little nook and cranny of hyperspace catapulted into my mind in a mere moment and stayed there for a good 3 hours.

When it comes to oral dmt (whether that be pharmahuasca or a brew), I find that eating fresh fruit and orange juice 30-60 minutes post-ingestion of huasca brings the journey upon me; otherwise I just waste my time at a + instead of at a ++++. I'm not sure why it exactly is that some people (myself included) need to ingest fruit with ayahuasca in order to experience full effects, or why it is that fruit may work some times and not other times, and until more pharmacological research is done on the pharmacokinetics of ayahuasca I doubt we ever will know. Everyone is different; do what works for you.

Actually, that's interesting: Fruit is almost completely absent in my diet.

I wonder if vitamin C has anything to do with it?

Furthermore, Ayahuasca seems to make me attracted to more junky, binge-y foods. Why?? Peyote has the opposite effect. Have I been eating too healthfully over the past 7 years??

Maybe the massage is regarding to the food ? Do you eat a lot ? Do you overeat ? Is your body wait as it should be ?

Just guessing but it could be the message, something about your diet or eating habits that may need to look at or change ?

Hahahah...often after smoking changa, when the effects have mostly subsided...I feel the irresistible urge to eat a big fat slice of cold sausage. Don't ask me why, but nearly after every experience I have this deep and strong desire to eat Wurst. ..could be a mineral thing or so...I don't really know.
Everything is always okay in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.

My body weight is fine. I'm 120-125lb and 5'11". In other words, I'm just slightly underweight, and have been underweight all my life. My eating is pretty balanced. My weakness is nut butters, nuts and seed butters. Other than that, I eat a very well rounded, wholesome diet (except for the minimal fruit). Fish, greens, brown rice, tahini, sweet potatoes, eggs, some pseudograins...

Laughing but seriously, ayahuasca makes me very hungry as well. Either I get the urge to purge, afterwards the hunger is there, or I don't, and I get extremely hungry instead, about an hour into it, then I eat something and it kicks the experience into another level. I also stay hungrier than normal for a few days after.

To me, aya feels so clean that there's no issue with eating a large meal while tripping.

Or something about increased bile flow...

Or maybe the protein is replenishing all the amino acids which are the building blocks for hormones and neurotransmitters.

Or both, or all three, or none of them!

Also, sausage after changa is ironic considering pork is so very taboo among Ayahuasca shamans...

If it doesn't hit you after 2 hours eat some rice and vegetable oil to activate your gallbladder.

Some people have this problem, they have to eat something to activate the journey.
It also seems to me that you are pretty low on energy?
Your brain needs sugar.
Don't overdo it with your dieta.
