Mainly to save space from excess information I have compiled this data from wild Phalaris Arundinacea yields from November to December 2013. All solvent(acetone/naphtha) extracted solutions were previously simmered with Acetic Acid(Vinegar or fresh squeezed lemon juice), defatted with Xylene and basified with Calcium Hydroxide. Generally only fresh uppermost foliage was used, sometimes shoots/stems mixed in.
Acetone pulls:
1,350g(3lbs) fresh weight. Grass harvested 11-21 was frozen for 48 hours and chopped while thawing. Frosty-stiff and gathered from various sections of a park via the forest trails and the outskirts of the baseball field and abuilding. Some tufts were surrounding big lumps of compost and were much more blue and larger/sturdier in many ways.
11-27 2g-Boom! Possibly plant oils and fats with non-tryptamine constituents. Active when bioassayed though not potent.
11-29 300mg-yield quickly declines + 100mg separate pan=400mg.
12-1 100mg-Apparently this extract dried and became moist in cold conditions. Only one that did that.
12-2 600mg-Must have re-basified with Calcium Hydroxide due to higher yield during later pulls.
12-3 400mg-Declining yield again.
Combined= 3.5g extract from 3lbs fresh grass.
-Fresh scraped acetone(50mg) gave a more colorful involved experience than 30mg of naphtha crystals.

11-17 100mg-mildly active in a spliff
11-23 This was part of the 3lb boil that was simmered off separately-1.2g + 600mg from 2 separate boils= 1.8g.
Naphtha
On 11-12 Reed Canary Grass harvest was from a field nearly 4 football fields across and about 25% filled with RCG populations, 10% only of the grass seemingly usable. There was also a small creek nearby. 11-14 harvest from same field but nearer to a stressed enivronment which was a brick wall. 15 handfulls with an estimated 110 leaves average(based on a few counts).
11-12 20-40mg+ from 477g fresh weight mid-day harvest (Freeze precipitated Naphtha)
11-14 50mg+ from 375g fresh weight morning-harvest(Room temperature Naphtha)
Crystals were actually forming more frequently from room temperature naphtha pulls. Fluffy crystals that look like dust(Space dust!). A few different times I gave precipitation a shot with Phalaris and only half the time it yielded at all and with barely usable quantities.
I believe the freeze precipitated naphtha pulls were completely inactive even in higher dosages(est. 50mg). Could that have been gramine? DMT and Gramine crystallize similarly so it would be hard to detect without analytical gear. What amount of gramine would need to be smoked/ingested to produce effects?
-If we combine the Acetone-pulled yields with the crudely extracted yields we get= 5.3g total from 3lbs(1,350g) fresh Phalaris Arundinacea.
-Many of these extracts were smoked or given away, none were ingested. Some were misplaced and lost during moving to a new home. Still have about 5 of them on hand. Not even 20mg left of crystals though. Barely a shake of salt.
-Over all-my own and others' experiences with this same grass I would say we had a handfull of decent experiences with the others producing mild-stoning effects with mild-energizing effects or really nothing of note. Always provides a nice meditative space though. Working with the plant brings out the magic.
