Hello Nexus! Greetings from South Africa! Big grin

I started my journey with psychedelics just over a year ago and had my first experience with DMT in February 2014. WOW. That's all I can say. I was completely blown away by the experiences, even though so far my highest dose was around 30mg.

I had about 5 or 6 experiences with the sample I received, mostly on the "only slightly mind-blowing" region of the spectrum, however my last few experiences were a little traumatic. I was not in a very good space psychologically and physically and I had a vague impression of my poor health being revealed to me while on DMT. The first few times it was an extremely pleasant thought to be aware of things that I needed to change in my life. The last experience I had, incidentally with my last bit of DMT, can be summed up as the DMT spirit chastising me in the form of "I'VE GIVEN YOU THESE LESSONS TO APPLY! WHY DO YOU KEEP SCROUNGING AROUND HERE?! PUT SOME EFFORT INTO YOUR LIFE!"

Well, you can imagine that thought was quite...intimidating? I almost want to say heart-breaking? Anyway, that was the last time I took DMT, or any other psychedelics for that matter. That was until a few days ago I tried LSD for the first time with a good friend of mine. We went for a laid-back hike in a beautiful, green, mountainous valley in the Western Cape. During this trip my friend mentioned something about volunteers destroying invasive Black Wattle (Acacia mearnsii) and Rooikrans (Acacia cyclops) and instantly a wealth of information on DMT-containing plants flooded my brain. My next thought was that there are a few Acacia species native to South Africa, do they have DMT???

Since then I have been reading a lot about extraction methods and plant species, and I have plans to explore the potential local sources (native and invasive) for DMT content and report back on my findings. I have noticed a few fellow South Africans floating around, so hopefully this kind of information will be of value to our local community and the rest of the Nexus. Pleased

I am a postgraduate student of chemical engineering so hopefully my skill set will help me along with my endeavour Big grin

Before this gets too long, let me say that I'm excited to be here, and I look forward to interacting with all you wonderful people! ^_^

High fives from Joburg! Big grin

We're looking into similar avenues up here. Keep us posted on any findings. I'm also new here, but welcome.

Hi there,

I only just joined and I am only just starting out on my journey - still in the research phase which led me to this forum as I am also searching for indigenous South African plants containing DMT. By the way, it seems like I am about halfway between you guys, on farm in central SA. Would like to get in touch with other South Africans.

Glad to see some more South Africans getting involved! ^_^

ambrosia, I'm also originally from a farm in central SA (near Graaff-Reinet). Glad to have you along for the ride! Big grin

I'm not too far away from Bloem, so my problem is finding more like minded people and/or stuff to use. where do I begin to find what I'm looking for? Potato I see you are a chemical engineer - do you make your own LSD? Can you perhaps give me some pointers of where I can find some in SA - preferably I would like to stay away from Nigerians!

How are you coming along with your search for local DMT plants? If you have any info you are happy to share, I'd appreciate it.

Ambrosia, be careful, sourcing is not allowed on the Nexus. Stop Read the attitude page Thumbs up

Regarding the search for local DMT plants, I've only done two attempts at extraction, both with Acacia Karroo (doringboom). I got a TINY amount of yellow crystal from the second test but it didn't smell of tryptamine when I vaped it. I might try again with a different plant in a drier region, but I first want to get my extraction method up to scratch using a plant that's known to have DMT.

Another plant I want to try is Rooikrans (Acacia Cyclops). It seems some people have had positive results.

Thanks Potato, I'll keep the rules in mind. My questions were intended to be more general, but I suppose one can't be too careful and I definitely don't want anybody to get in trouble or the forum shut down.

I thought Acacia karoo would be a source for dmt as I saw it was listed as psychoactive. My guess would be that most acacia would contain dmt to some extent. I have a contact at the university who might be able to help find out more from colleagues.

What psychedelics have you experimented with? Ayahuasca, mushrooms?
