Edit: I think I posted this in the wrong spot so please move it if that would be better.
Hello,
I am hoping that someone might be able to help me or give me an idea where I am going wrong. I am very much a beginner and have only succeeded twice in extracting spice from MHRB. Once with Noman's Tek and the second time with Cyb's ATB Salt TEK. Both times I had off white crystals with some yellow oily wax that i rx'ed. Both yields were assayed and the conclusion was that they were quite active.
Since then I had what I thought was Hawaiian ACTrB and attempted the Max Ion extraction twice. Each time with 50g ground bark. The bark was a mixture of inner and outer and was pulverized with a coffee grinder. I used Naphta for the first attempt and Heptane for the second.
Neither yielded anything to speak of really. Just a very very small amount of oil. Both times I did see what appeared to be an emulsion from the 3rd pull on and I couldn't break it. I am worried I screwed up the defat stage maybe as that is the main difference other than time from the original Salt tek right? If so I should have still had some yield though? I evaporated down to 40% before freezing and the solvent in the tray looked like it was slightly cloudy but maybe that was just my imagination.
I am thinking that maybe the bark was simply not concentrated enough and I need to find another source. Both times what I thought were precipitated crystals melted away in condensation, and when evaporated completely, left an oily film and nothing more.
I am now attempting to extract using the same procedure with the last bit of MHRB that I have. I know that the bark is active, so if it is me screwing something up in the Max Ion tek, I will find that out at least.
Reading through the forums I do see that some people have had similar experiences with inactive bark and it could be that I just got some very low to no alkaloid ACTrB bark?
Thanks for any insight!
