Hi there!

This is quite a natural phenomena.. I do indeed enjoy it. There is a fresh sense of everything during the afterglow. I feel it is where much of where our implementation of our experiences comes into play. Or perhaps a simple meditation is good also.. most activities feel amazing during this time. I also see it as a time to improve thought and motives to help aid in the period of reflection for one's self, the world, and universe at large.

I'm sure we all have our way about it. Wink

I often fear I have become too accustomed and addicted tot he after glow. I would intake mushrooms decently often and ride the afterglow for full months. Without, life felt listless. I have now abstained from tripping for about half a year and I am only finding myself comfortable now. Theres an awful lot of misery in the world when you let yourself be touched by it and without that afterglow, I am easily touched by it.

I suppose the afterglow has its own positives and negatives.

Yes. It's one of the best parts about tripping.

I believe that it's far more common than not. Kind of like asking, "has anyone ever had visuals while *tripping*?"
All of my posts are entirely fictional. I am a writer, and as a means to research the life of a fictional character that I'm writing about, I post on the Nexus to get into character. In real life I have no interest or interaction with mind-altering substances.

I'd trip just for the afterglow to be honest. Maybe I'll drink Aya every month, see if I can keep a permanent glow Smile

permaglow was the diagnosis Cool

Once a month sounds perfect. Not too much and not too little. The problem is providing oneself with enough material to continue at that rate. Gotta grow it.

So, besides marijuana, I haven't had any psychedelics. So here's possibly a stupid question: do they all have an afterglow effect? It seems like the length of some might be more than others?

I would agree to that, yes. To each their own, really. I feel the total duration of the actually experience or perhaps peak usually determines the overall afterglow effects. Those can range from negative, neutral and positive effects.

I have only experience afterglow on acrb/rue and mushrooms. I felt like crap after MDMA (felt wonderful during). After acid wore off I was just soooo tired and don't remember ever feeling anything like what I felt after shrooms or acrb. It is very pronounced and your state of mind changes about everything.

For example. I am really into local politics and watching the news or hearing what this person or that person did or said really can get me in a good or bad mood. Not after I trip though. I am much less likely to view other people with other views with enmity even if they would hate me.

It also depends on state of mind going into the trip maybe... if you treat the substance with respect and honor the experience you get so much more out of it.

Marijuana - no. It actually gives a noticeable hangover, which limits its usefulness.
Mushrooms - yes.
LSD - yes.
MDMA - yes.
Mescaline - yes. Best afterglow out of all of the above, I think.
DMT - no data yet.

The afterglow is similar to what I feel when coming back from a great vacation. Which is rather fitting, since experiencing some of these alkaloids is called 'tripping'.

For a few days, up to about a week, I feel bullet proof, where nothing stresses me out. Everything is right with the universe, like a re-alignment has occurred. Then, sadly, as the stress continues, it eventually unbalances the alignment and I find myself being bothered again.

Overall, I am in a much better place due to learning what the plants have to teach. I have learned how to re-align myself without the plants, to a certain degree. I have not yet learned everything they have to teach.
