I Followed the tek for dmt extraction:
http://psychonautwiki.or...hydroxide_DMT_extraction
Which basically uses sodium hydroxide and Naptha
With 35 gr Mimosa
Since I use less mimosa then the article, I use half proportions of water, sodium hydroxide and Naptha.
At step 8, since the Naphta stayed yallow after 24 hours, I separated it to another Jar and left for 3 days.
Problem is it is still yellow. Very little of the brown material has separated to the bottom of the jar.

Well this is easy. Get 2 things. Distilled water, and activated charcoal. You'll find that at thebaquarium section of any major store.

Pour in some distilled water. Swirl it around and suck up the naptha and put it into a clean container.

Repeat that step until the water is completely clear. Now, add [and I do mean this literally] a pinch of activated carbon and swirl it around a little. That should clear upnyour solvent enormously

If the cristals contain some brown material, is it unusable then?
What is this brown material anyway? does it contain lye, since I consider do sniffing.

I disagree with Ice. Activated charcoal has been shown to trap alkaloids in literature, possibly resulting in yield loss if used in DMT extractions.

Forget about color of naphtha, thats not an indicator of anything useful. Do a sodium carbonate wash and pre-evap/freeze precipitate, and if needed recrystalize. all instructions are in the FAQ. Also read the "is my dmt ok to smoke" FAQ entry.

endlessness, basically you say that if some yellow tint stays on the crystals, it is O.K.?

Yellow tint being in the crystals is perfectly fine. I gett yieldd of ~2% all the time cleaning with carbon it's perfectly fine as well if you don't go overboard with it.

The yellow discoloration is just plant fats and other alkaloids such as NMT (also psychedelic). Many people here on the nexus actually prefer this.

In this case, it is light yellow by now.
I will leave it as this.

You should let us know how the precipitation comes out? I want to see the color.

From my understanding please correct me if I'm wrong.
The carbon is added to only the solvent containing the DMT then the carbon is filtered out.
How does this trap the alkaloids as the DMT is already in the solvent where can it go.

I can see how an excessive amount could strip the alkaloids from the solvent and cause the whole lot, alkaloids and plant fats mixed with carbon to settle on the bottom of a beaker making a mess.

I'm just trying to visualise this and the only problem I can see if an excessive amount is used.

What about bentonite say a 1% solution added to solvent containing DMT pulls shake then separate.

What type of bentonite? Sodium bentonite?

It can "go" into the AC, even if you use less than "an excess" of AC.

So the yellow tint is very different from the black color

That spice =Thumbs up

Personally, I've never seen white DMT. Even the synthesised stuff i saw back in the 80s was deep red, and all the magic that I've been able to pull has been yellow-ey.

Do those xtals remain constituted, or melt upon scraping into goo/wax?
