Hi Everyone,

Let's start with a Dr. Seuss -like poem I wrote about my first DMT journey, and see if I hold your interest past that! Wink

---

DMT in Me
"The best place is in nature," he tells me,
the sweet Zimbabwean carrying flecks of red DMT
We follow a stream until we come upon a fork
We lay in the grass; ready to let our souls uncork

The gurgling stream is champagne to the ears
A tiny Grand Marnier bottle stirs my fears
Packed with steel wool, a hole punched through the bottom
Will it eject me somewhere joyous or rotten?

My head lays back, my eyes fix to blue sky
"I'm ready," I say, as if saying goodbye
The bottle presses to my lips, the flint-spark is struck
A flash of fire; a deep inhale; wish me good luck!

Breath holds a few seconds, 'fore the sky starts to shatter
My body vibrates, my thoughts scatter
A second inhale and everything goes black
My soul heads somewhere, but will I come back?

Before my eyes appears a rotating pattern
Colours as magical as the rings of Saturn
Floating designs uncurl like a blossoming flower
Soon I wake up at the foot of a tall castle tower!

Two elves stretch out their arms to greet me
"We've been waiting for you, man," they convince me completely
I reach out my arms in total amazement
This beautiful place is free from enslavement

The elves show me an incredible garden
Filled with ecstasy and joy—I laugh easily and often!
There are flowers and plants, and grass ultra-green
The energy is loving and kind; there's not a trace of mean

But in this temporary Heaven, forever I cannot stay
My time is running out—the DMT sun is setting on my day!
Grateful for my tour I wish to give the elves a gift
I must act quickly for the DMT is fading so swift!

I say: "Before I leave, you can borrow my body"
"Feel what it's like to be an Earth-boy, but please don't be naughty!"
Instantly they leap into my chest, a little too quickly
Then I feel grey and lost, a little bit sickly

My soul falls out of the kingdom, down tubes of decay
Seeing rot and death; a brief, hellish ballet
I accept the dark things I see without fear or regret
If you want to play in God's garden, then you have to pay your debt

The elves leave my body and I return to Earth
I open my eyes with a sense of rebirth
All the colours are rich, every edge quite crisp
The plants exude auras, their branches dancing like wisps

Nothing can prepare for the places DMT takes us
Opening our minds and hearts and making them spacious
I rise up and give the Zimbabwean a hug
It's insulting to call this amazing neurotransmitter a 'drug'

---

I came to experience the mystery of DMT at age 35 after stepping off the boat deep in the Amazon jungle. Over two weeks I sat in eight ceremonies with Shipibo shamans drinking Ayahuasca. Prior to this I'd never experienced any "drug" except two occasions smoking marijuana, but after watching "DMT: The Spirit Molecule," you might say I was caught in the 'tractor beam' and within two months of seeing the movie, I was three hours up-river from Iquitos, Peru.

Instinctively I knew that the vehicle to journey to the center of the universe was already contained in our neurobiology. I come from the most squarish, white-collar world you can imagine and I was ready to scrutinize my 'culturally cherished illusions' (as Terence McKenna calls them) and heal myself of depression—and Ayahuasca helped enormously with this, though I still struggle sometimes.

Part of what sparked my attraction to DMT and Ayahuasca was a video project I'd been involved in with my employer on YouTube concerning bullying of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons that can sometimes lead to youth suicide or suicidal thoughts. A colleague's 18 year old gay son had committed suicide recently and being involved in the "It Gets Better" project had stirred-up memories of my own past abusive situations that I needed to reconcile with the aid of Ayahuasca. Many of us here already know that being cut-off from Source and feeling abused, disregarded, or bullied in the world can lead to suicidal thoughts; and Ayahuasca is one tool we can use to break those negative thought-patterns.

Later on, after experiencing Ayahuasca 16 times in total (both in Peru and later on in a Western country), vaporized DMT found me one weekend in-between a multi-night session with Mother Ayahuasca. Because I just had Ayahuasca the night before the 'doorway' was already ajar in my mind when I took that first breath of DMT. The vapor went down easily and the floral-chrysanthemum pattern appeared instantly like a camera-flash going off in my third eye—red and gold mainly, with bits of blue, like the rose windows of a cathedral suspended and spinning in a 3D space. These beautiful rotating patterns parted and 'they' were instantly there to meet me—fast-moving elf-like beings who said they'd been waiting for me, who took me on a tour of a beautiful garden before returning me to my body.

I was so taken by the experience that I wrote that Dr. Seuss-like poem above to commemorate the experience.

For those who care about such things, a "DMT Lab" was busted in Appleton, Wisconsin this week, a rare occurrence. Shoddy news coverage rushed in to spread misinformation and withhold useful knowledge about DMT so that a gullible public could remain ignorant, unclear, and fearful. I posted a long reply on that news article, as well as several sites covering the story, because I find it morally egregious when useful experiences are misrepresented to create fear and amplify ignorance or as click-bait to sell advertising. I put slightly different versions of my reply on every news site that permitted comments.

I understand (and hope) there are chemists, scientists, and doctors with more knowledge and experience than I have with DMT here on this forum. Or writers who would frame explanations of DMT more eloquently or in a way that is more accessible to mainstream readers. I am open to corrections or any constructive criticisms you might have for my replies to those news articles.

I realize that my real identity is exposed by virtue of my being forced to comment on the article via Facebook. I weighed the risks of this quite a bit, because anyone Googling my real name (i.e., a prospective employer doing a character check) might be put-off by my publicly engaging on a topic seen as controversial in our present age.

However, I think that setting the record straight with regard to DMT journalism outweighs the risks, and I humbly hope to inspire others to come out of the woodwork and post intelligent, thoughtful, sensitive responses to shoddy news hack-jobs like those currently circulating concerning that "DMT lab" bust. We will never up-end bad journalism if we don't vote-up intelligent comments and add our own (well-articulated, heart-foscused, and/or fact-dropping!) voices to the social media chorus.

Looking at the forum post here I read many intelligent, funny, insightful responses to those articles about the DMT lab bust. It would be great to see those voices join in on the public media commentary!

Story 1:
WBAY: UPDATE-2: Police suspect Appleton drug lab was making hallucinogenic

Story 2:
“It’s really scary:” Officials in Appleton believe they have discovered a DMT lab

A few other versions of these stories are also floating around on various sites.

If you read this far I hope I made your time investment worthwhile. Cheers!

Not sure you should be a DMT martyr. Be careful to reply to online press reports.

Great poem! Thumbs up And I don't think there is any harm in engaging in online discussion regarding DMT except, as you mentioned, from the perspective of prospective employers. At one time that would be true regarding public discussion of homosexuality and equal gender and race rights. These things change, and sometimes its violent. You need to watch your own neck, but at the same time cowering in the corner is pointless and not worthy of the limited time we have in this precious lifetime nor the dignity of being human that is our birthright.

Thank you all for the welcome messages!

Gowpen's comment touched made me think again about my commenting publicly on news media articles. I don't desire martyrdom or notoriety, but I do believe in sharing facts transparently where it 'intuitively feels' appropriate to dispel misconceptions... or open minds to new possibilities to consider.

Thanks for doing what you can in regards to the media reports. When I initially saw that article, I read the comments and was impressed that there's a small clan of internet warriors to set the story straight. I was going to join in, but felt the point was already made. I had wondered who those heroes were though, and now I find one! Thanks again.

Beautiful poem, very refreshing! Thank you for sharing everything and for fighting the Satan of media that is Fox! Also congrats on the promotion Thumbs up

It's quite sad that they got busted for two of the most beneficial medicines on earth, but it sounds like they were careless. I would never sell DMT. As soon as I experienced it, the mere idea of selling it was slapped out of my head and replaced with respect. I give away MJ to good friends sometimes as well.

Very sad about your colleague's child Sad - another heart claimed by our ignorant status quo.

Thank you for your comments (that goes also for everyone else - thanks a bunch!).

I agree that DMT shouldn't be sold, only gifted when circumstances feel appropriate and the recipient is thoroughly educated and is as certain as possible they're ready to pull the eject lever on 'reality.' Shocked

My first couple experiences with DMT were gifted to me. On the rare occasions when I've shared the experience with others, the entire 'process' becomes a small act of giving: smudging the room with incense or white sage and lighting some candles (if we're journeying indoors); setting intentions and/or meditating beforehand; playing psychedelic medicine tunes on the stereo. (In fact, I feel this way about all the psychedelics: If I find myself with a plant or a few doses of pure LSD, I won't sell it, but I'll gift a portion in the right circumstances.)

Although in the past I've purchased DMT and Changa out of ignorance (or laziness) of not being in a living situation where I felt I could extract it, I think in the future I will grow Phalaris grass or another plant and extract the neurotransmitter myself. I imagine there's a lot more satisfaction in being involved with the plants from sprout to extraction. Reading others' posts in this forum cemented that intention for me, to learn to extract it myself from plants I will grow some day.

Having said all this, I only rarely choose to experience DMT or any medicines these days. Something Alan Watts wrote resonates with me:

"Psychedelic experience is only a glimpse of genuine mystical insight, but a glimpse which can be matured and deepened by the various ways of meditation in which drugs are no longer necessary or useful. If you get the message, hang up the phone. For psychedelic drugs are simply instruments, like microscopes, telescopes, and telephones. The biologist does not sit with eye permanently glued to the microscope, he goes away and works on what he has seen..."

And that's where I'm at in life: Working on what I've seen. Wink

That's alittle over reaction much?..
Pretty ridiculous how they make the chemical look.
(With no knowledge of it of course) 😒

I mean really, who here generally injects DMT?
And fantasian? Business mans LSD? Haha.
It's quite funny, I've never heard these terms.

But anyways,
Love the poem(: great work on that.

Nice, LAEL, the posting you put on the news site was spot on. Ignorance spreads like fire with mass-media, educate when possible.
