Hello everybody. I have about 10 grams of scissors hash that has gotten a bit moldy. some white powder here and there.
Is there any way to reprocess this so that the mold is not a problem? cooking into oil? acetone wash? what is the safest way to get the goodies?
thanks I love you all

It would probably be best to scrape off what obvious spots you can see, then dissolve in either IPA or acetone, filter and evaporate.
IPA might be better because the with 99% isopropyl from the drug store the main impurity is water. Acetone I believe is more likely to have other impurities.
It won't be as tasty, but it should be safer to smoke.

you can just scrape any mold off, as long as its not to badly covered. I would be surprised if you could get scissor hash to fully dissolve in a solvent however I haven't tried myself. Perhaps just wipe it down with a alcohol pad if the mold is only on the outside. Once you remove it just make sure to kneed the hash every day or so to keep it fresh and to squeeze out moisture

The scissor hash would not fully dissolve because scissor hash is basically kief mixed with tiny bits of plant matter and moisture. All of the cannabinoids and terpenes should dissolve into IPA, but some terpenes will evaporate off with it, hence the loss of flavor.
Bdevall is right though, if you have big chunks the insides might be fine. depends on how badly it's molded.
You can store it in jars with silica gel packets to prevent this from happening and dry it faster.

So then definitely use either the alcohol or acetone method! But do these toxins even vaporize or survive burning?

This will probably be helpful too http://skunkpharmresearc...vaging-moldy-material-2/The two most common types of mold found on cannabis do not contain aflatoxins: botyris and powdery mildew. you will not be able to remove 100% of the mold spores and particles without microfiltration.
