I only registered a few weeks ago, although I've been reading DMT-Nexus on and off for years. I've noticed that, compared with other forums about psychedelics, DMT-Nexus seems to have a large proportion of very intelligent people. I see few posts along the lines of, "Lol, DMT roolz, u got 2 try it".

Is my perception accurate? Are the members here more intelligent and/or articulate than on other forums? And if so, why? Are those who are attracted to DMT more intelligent than those who gravitate toward other psychedelics? Or, conversely, does using DMT make one more intelligent? (I've never used it myself.) Or perhaps the members and moderators have just cultivated an excellent culture during the years of this forum's existence.

I think it is latter of your suggestions. It is a very effective system of self-filtering which allows a higher quality of content. Also, I've noticed a lot of cryptic prose that is wicked fun to unravel regarding some of the more "legally sensitive" subjects.

The work of excellent mods keep things fairly clean. Generally when people treat this like a public forum, I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to mention examples, people don't recieve them well. The Nexus has always been a forum for the advancement of the knowledge, I mean, just look at the subforum layout.

The site rules are pretty clear on how you should handle yourself in the community and the mods won't hesitate to remind people of that when needed. That said, I would believe that there are cultures based on the forum and that the various classes of people therein would be diluted by the sheer number of members. Nexus has a decently select group, with full members being handpicked for their demonstration of their ability to produce Nexus appropriate materials. This takes the dilution of intelligent individuals out of the equation.

A fun little hobby is looking through other forums, trying to find the moderators reused handles and seeing how they differ behaviorally on other forums, if they do at all. There's actually a few of them if you look.

It's a really special community of individuals, imho. A unique dialect of individuals; many sharing the commonality of having experienced DMT, so there's that; I think DMTs a big factor here, if not 'the' factor.

Welcome Startrek,

I too browsed this forum for years before deciding to register. It seems members have the desire to understand their own experiences by hearing others. Some people are just good willed and want to provide helpful information for people who are potentially exposed to the most powerful hallucinogen known to man. With power comes responsibility which is why only a fool or deceptive person would be like, "Hey bro just hit this" to someone unknowingly in an unknown environment. In my travels DMT has been harder to come by then other hallucinogens like mushrooms and sid. Generally its a smaller group that makes it and they only give to those that are going to respect it and not just in it to make profits off of it like coke or molly. Most believe it takes on a spiritual aspect that should be appreciated. Mass distributors of DMT are frowned upon by the 'community' for several reasons like when they get busted there's gonna be a hunt for other DMT producers and the likelihood is high that a bunch of inexperienced people will take the substances and potentially have negative life changing consequences and then there would be this mass hysteria about the substance and people that have been using and making it responsibly will be cast in a dark light to put it nicely.

I don't think there's a relation between people being more intelligent that use DMT, but it can create more openness in an individual and a greater thirst for knowledge. People that seek out DMT are likely more interested in consciousness and the nature of our existence. Having used it several times myself in some respects it opens the door to more questions but in another way it can provide an answer though it seems to be highly subjective. After-all, how can we entirely trust what takes place in our minds without some other absolute reference point especially in regards to 'truth'? I agree that the members have been receptive and provide sensible comments and the moderators have played a role in the helping of it to be much better than other forums.

I've only been around for a bit, but I definitely see what you mean. It seems to be a mix of what you suggested. It's almost like DMT "calls out" to certain people, and those folks would be the ones that have already been actively exploring better paths for themselves. Good people attract good things. So what came first, the chicken or the egg? Either way, I'm happy that there's a good culture surrounding it. I feel like I can be myself here especially, it's good stuff.

Dare i make the suggestion that psychedelics used in the correct way does make one a hell of a lot smarter? Big grin

or at the very least, speeds up development.

If it wasn't your philosophical nature that made you curious about DMT, it will be the DMT that makes you curiously philosophical.

It makes sense though. I think that intelligence is related to questioning things. Seeking answers. Exploring. Valuing new perspectives. Satisfying the ever present 'why' and 'how' that seems to be an important part of the human condition.

Psychedelics embody that quest perfectly so they fit people who already have a habit of doing so in their daily life.

DMT is the most independent of self (least obviously connected to ones own psyche and subconcious) and thereby the most effective at offering new perspectives, questions and mental triggers.

Also, and this is a bit trivial, it requires some intelligence to obtain Smile

That's how I see the cause of the Nexus' members' intelligent vibes!

I think the development of a well articulated Attitude section has been influential in upholding the ethos of the Nexus. Additionally, the time and effort put in the by the administrator, moderators and members of the forum definitely go a long way to ensuring mature discourse within the forum.

Glad to see you have registered!

Has anyone actually eaten pineal glands from monkeys (assuming cannibalism isn't ok here)? I think someone should. We need to know. For science.

No DMT in liver, eh?

Thanks for all the answers to my questions. I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices what a nice culture has been developed here. I look forward to many more interactions with the fine people of the Nexus.
