As swim is embarking on a second extraction he wonders would it be possible to reuse my base soup from the first extraction in the next one. Swim would filter out the solids and use the basic solution only. Swim is just thinking rather than dumping down the drain he could recycle a bit. Basing was done with NaOH and pH would be tested and brought to proper levels per tek. What are your thoughts on this?

As far as I understand the process, the base-soups task is to break down the cell structure of the plant material so the dmt gets dissolved in the water. pulling with a non-polar solvent then extracts the dmt. maybe you get some more plant fats this way but you could give it a try with a low amount of material first.

NaOH is not environmentally damaging, it will dillute and lose its harmful propterties very quickly.

if you really want to make a difference, think about reusing your solvent.

asked your question in the chat, here is your answer:

dont do it
20:51:31 ‹Thatsthewayitis›you will just waste your DMT containing material
20:52:31 ‹Thatsthewayitis›it will just sink to the bottom, it wont break down, and if it does, it will be very little. it will keep your lye from dissolving all the way too
20:53:02 ‹Thatsthewayitis›then your going to be pulling out all those extra alkaloids in your solvent

I do reuse as much solvent as possible as yes it is the most environmentally iffy part of extraction. Thanks for your reply i was considering this point that the old base soup would be too saturated with the previous waste products to pick up all the dmt from new material. I may reuse the base partition of my mini a/b as it is rather clean basic solution with some plant fats. I am thinking this would allow mw to recover dmt that may be left behind in this soulution.

Don't really need to use swim here, actually its fairly looked down upon. Culpability makes people more professional probably.

Read that so you can better understand some of the processes.

The base soup you want to use could work to basify, but keep in mind that you will have more matter for it to come into contact with, might require more basified solution to achieve the desired pH.

I dont see a reason you couldn't do it, but you're still going to use more of your base, I'm sure. Keep in mind that you are using (I'm assuming), lye. Which is drain cleaner. Thats designed to be flushed, mate. I would for sure worry more about the amount of solvent you are using.

Personally, I don't like lye and I tend to work with the food safe (except my solvent) Q21Q21 lime tek .
