Hello psychonauts:
I just want to ask about the dangers or drawbacks in using 10% ammonia to purify the DMT:
Is there any danger?
Is it advisable?
Is it worth it?

And another question Do you think the following as a viable method of degreasing ?:
Put acetone (or hexane or any other solvent) in a freezer at a minimum temperature. Once cooled acetone, put crystals DMT on a filter paper or filter coffee, which in turn above a glass, then pouring the cold acetone on the filter paper for cleaning crystals.

Do you think it's a good idea or at least possible?

I will thanks yours response
Greetings Smile

I don't see why ammonia would be a bad thing. It is a base. Although, it is pretty hazardous.

For the second part involving acetone. What is your reasoning for freezing the acetone....?

The ammonia wash was removed from some of the older teks because of large loss in yeilds.
Read up on sodium carbonate wash.

I believe his reasoning for freezing the solvent is to decrease its ability to hold dmt.

I am pretty sure a normal re-x would work better.

When washing an extract like this you want to avoid using a solvent your product is dissolved into.

Thanks for all your answers

Now I have the clear about the ammonia,
but about the acetone:
I thought to use it because it is more volatile
and therefore leave fewer toxic waste.
but if it is true that the DMT does not dissolve in cold acetone or am I wrong?

Thanks for your help and for your minutes to answer my questions

It should. Just at a much smaller quantity than you could dissolve if it was hot acetone. Acetone is miscible in water. Bear than in mind =]

Ammonia cleanups have been popularized by nomans tek, but noman himself has stated that it isn't a good idea. As anarchy said, recrystallisation works well enough. Also, if you have not yet inhaled ammonia vapors before, let me tell you, it is a very disconcerting experience. Surprised
