I recently completed my first extraction of 50g of ACRB, following Cybs salt tek.

Excitedly, I enjoyed some of my new spice. I used a freebase pipe (not the best I know, but all I had at the moment).

I didn't break through, I got close, but I was brought back to reality when my body started violently twitching. The twitching wasn't painful or anything of the sort, but it was uncontrollable. I would have a full on body twitch, try to focus on relaxing, then when i felt relaxed again my whole body would violently twitch again. Sometimes the twitches happened right after another, sometimes they were spaced out. This twitching lasted for the entirety of the main part of the trip. When i started coming down a little bit they stopped.

I have done some searching online and can't really find out what could be the cause.

I dunno if I messed up the extraction some how and got dirty spice or what.

Some notes on the extraction:
After the freeze percip there were nice white crystals. I scraped the pan, but when i scrapped it, there was a clear "goo" on the bottom of the pain that came with the crystals. This goo turned brown when it was all scrapped together. I recrystallized it and was left with mostly just nice white crystals. There was still a goo left over after the recrystallizing, but it was yellow/off white and there wasn't that much of it.

I have some bark left that i intend to make another batch with, I intend to take more time with it and try to do it perfect, as with my first batch I was just excited to see the end product.

Anyway, has anyone every experienced these violent shakes/twitches/convulsions? Did I do something wrong in the extraction? I have smoked DMT before from another source, and never had this experience.

I think it's normal, I'm just a novice with DMT but it has happened to me too. My hands tend not to twitch or shake, but to move a lot the fingers. When the dose gets higher, my feet and legs tend to do the same, not move, just stretch like I just woke up.

I've experienced this too on rare occasions. Hard to tell what if anything causes or precipitates an episode. Never ceases to irritate me though, IME once I find I'm in 'that' room, its a lost cause and I call it a night. Also every time this has happened to me was accompanied by various other uncomfortable and unwelcome side effects. I tend to sense a presence intrinsically woven into the trip, very strong alert, intelligent and malign - interloper. Been quite frightened more than once but mostly get pissed off because I got absolutely no clue on where to even begin with this thing. Luckily it is rare enough that I continue to risk a tangent shitty episode once in a while. I would be interested in any similar experiences too.

I agree that it is a common enough phenomenon to not think anything is 'wrong' - or that you somehow botched or jinxed your spice...if you ever fuck up an extraction its likely the whole batch would just be useless - not necessarily leaving one scratching his head and wondering if it is contaminated or otherwise self induced fuck-uppery.
Total and utter cosmic stuff

DMT really can unleash physical phenomena. Once a manevolant entity (after being stabbed in the gut by another douchebag entity) came from behind and wrapped his hands around my eyes. My right eye turned into bone and the whole sensation was rather displeasing.

Thank you guys for the input, it is rather reassuring.

I'll wait a little while before trying it again, and make sure it's the right time and i'm in the right place.

i've had a similar experience, but i don't know if i could define it as body twitching.

It all started normally (50mg sadwiched in a bong), but suddenly i sensed some strange feeling of a rock moving into my throat. I paniced in no time, stood up and the moment i stood up my inner self knew i've just messed it up because i am trying to control the trip. I remember that when i stood up , i started waving my hands in order to propell the negative force that was taking control of my experience.

I literally felt being beaten on my back, neck and head, i thought i was no longer able to move in a coordinated fashion, the throat convulsions made me think that i just poisoned myself. My vision was blurried, i could still recognize a slight concresense and fluidity of the visual field typical for sub-breakthrough experience.

one thing that is quite peculiar for me, is that most of my experiences in the sub- , pre- breakthrough range, i start singing in some unknown language for me, and this happened this time too.

The overall duration of that unpleasant trip was about 20 minutes,
after i panicked and stood up, fighting the force and being beaten upon for about a minute i was struck sitting on my knees, with head faced to the floor, mumbling that sacred song i was immediately taught to ask the divine force to keep mercy with me. i kept on praying like that for about 15 minutes, kneeled, i remember the visuals intensified at some point, but it hadn't to do anything with the magnificence of my other dmt experiences. I felt as if closed in some interdimensional purgatory, though i was seeing my setting as made from stained glass; as the spirit, the ally, call it whatever, faced me with the intensity of all my negativity, the diabolic, infernal, fierce aspect of me.

After about 20 minutes it slowly came off, i could focus my sight and slowly got up on my feet.

I was very scared about these throat convulsions, which back then i misinterpreted as suffocating, asking a ton of dumb questions here on the nexus.

After a lot of reading, i stumbled upon people experiencing the same throat convulsions phenomena.

I've never twitched on DMT, always peacefully laying/sitting there; although id imagine everyones different as far as reaction goes.

I know the times i've dosed people, and when they're in the thick of it, you can see their eye's twiching/fluttering like crazy; always thought that was so cool Very happy

As far as bodily reactions, I remember one time when i dosed this individual that was a friend of a friend; he had done several lower dosages initially from me - 30mg 1:1 changa, so 15mg or so of dmt; light footing. The one night he wanted 30-35mg of dmt, so i loaded 65mg of 1:1 blend with a little caapi leaf layer on top. Two drags of the pipe on the recliner and he began to thrash about (despite the calm environment/setting) and do all these crazy mudras and body positions, mumbling noises; was so fascinating. At some points he'd just flop around like a fish. Razz

After having come back to baseline, i asked him how it went, to which he replied "man, i was in this place, and I just had to meander my way through, it was the only way."

Very happy

Among my many baseless theories regarding the nature and mechanism of DMT,is that it is related to what is known as kundalini, chi,or what have you; a subtle as in unmeasurable but powerful force, the life force within us that connects us from the Earth to the mind (or divine). Nearly every time I've taken it, my body positions ITSELF into various asanas, and i feel these configurations are like formula used to express and convey this energy. Especially in a abused and ragged body like mine this energy as it 'burns through' causes these motions.

I too have noticed a muscular twitch, some isolated muscle in usually an extremity, forearm, finger etc, will 'pulse' in a way that is not uncomfortable but is visible. This is not hallucination. I've always assumed this to be a matter of course and widely observed but may be wrong.

I have experienced this in a variety of forms, varying from small twitches to spasm-like movements that have thrown me about. To me they feel quite similar to the hypnic jerk (Wikipedia link).

There is another thread on this issue here: Involuntary twitching while on dmt?

I actually posted about that happening before. Eventually, I just chalked it up to my body deciding to dance to Shpongle whether "I" wanted to or not.

Whenever I go on a sub breakthrough dose, as I come up, my jaw drops wide, my eyes open wide as can be. My jaw then starts trembling, teeth chattering. The rest of my body feels as though a chill is slowly working its way through me. I will huddle my body trying to feel warmth, though warm and cold are quickly losing their meaning. My muscles feel constrained. I begin to stretch and contort as if waking from a deep deep sleep. At this point, depending on the dose, I begin rolling around and contorting my body all over my bed, with great fervor. The stretches and the chilled shivers of my jaw and body subside about halfway.

I occasionally shake from most psychedelics, it can be annoying and disconcerting but for me it is pretty normal. I have smoked dmt once at a small dose and it sent my facial muscles into a fit, I was smiling the whole time but my smile was jumping up and down, my eyebrows were twitching, and I was writhing all about in the grass. After I came down I was cold and shivering quite a lot on a nice and sunny day.

I have actually experienced this quite alot, however not anytime recently. My first encounter with it was after i had drank ayahuasca for the first time, and my eperience started with alot of violent twitches in my spine. The violent twitches eventually smoothed out to a nice slither as I saw myself beginning to transform into an anaconda, moving through the amazon.(I at the time was unaware that ayahuasca was a serpent entity until the following day when I asked a maestro.)

This has ocasionally carried over into some of my changa sessions that involve B. Caapi, and now I understand it as the serpent energy passing through me and its an amazinging and empowering feeling. I will note on one session however I had a much more violent episode that was triggered by lfting my arm a certain way. I thought it was the sepent energy however it was not very comforting. This lasted for about a minute until I realized I had set my mapacho away from me, and quickly grabbed it to ground the experience, and clear the energy in me. I then began to think some weird entity just kind of hopped in my body and played around with it while I had my gaurd down

I do my changa sessions a little different than most, I involve mapacho in the same way the peruvian shamans do with ayahuasca, because I make my blends very vine heavy, and am also a believer in using it to protect from evil entities. I felt that that one particular violent session was different than i have experienced before or again. I have been much more careful since then, and it actually made me much more wanting to do solo sessions because from an outside perspective it must have seemed like I was having an epileptic fit, and this is no joke, some times I really get moving.

I will add though its never painful or uncomfortable, just bizzare. I think this is a bit different than what youre describing, but I just though this would be an appropriate place to share, as I have neverreally shared that before. Sorry for the long rant Razz

I've never had invoulantry twitches, but i'm always very shaky & cold on returning from hyperspace.
Seems to be common. It goes away fairly quick.
On oral dmt + harmalas, & this is voulantary, it seems to help with the nausea if my feet are flat on something, knees bent, & i rapidly shake/vibrate my legs.
Almost as if the sediment in the tea settles from the vibration inside the body, similar to setting the brew on a dryer or something to help settle the sediment.

The comeup on mushrooms can be really shaky for me sometimes. I usually end up flopping on my bed trembling with my legs spazzing, me grunting going "ohh man, I'm glad noone's watching me". After a period of agitation, usually 15 minutes or so, it'll give way to extreme calm as the visions start and I slip into trance. It feels like they just shake the fear out of me. After the experience I'm much less nervous about, well, everything. It feels strengthening.

It's really exacerbated by cold weather. Part of it is just nervousness combined with enhanced sensitivity, but does seem to be a property of the electric-buzz tryptamines induce all over the body, in my humble experience.

The tension that has accumulated in your body over the years could be the cause of this. The twitching is the first step of breaking the shell. Eventually that will turn into tension flowing inside you, changing your body structure. When the tension reaches a blockage, it engages your body and movement/shaking happens. If you decide to go with the process, you'll learn to dial down the intensity of this internal tension and redirect it to avoid the shaking (or make it stronger to induce shaking and create more 'cracks' into the shell).

try experimenting with the position you are in when taking DMT, personally I use the lotus position,

position and mindset will have profound effects your experience. (I wouldn't worry about your twitching weirder things have happened believe me)

Hey brokeneye,

First, congrats on your extraction Thumbs up !

So, I've seen twitching in others before and experienced it myself, among a lot of other automatic or sub/supraconscious motion. It's "normal," or at least as normal as anything gets on DMT. I generally pay special attention to any motion on DMT because it doesn't happen every time for me and certainly not for every person. Much discussion about DMT experiences usually revolves around the mental aspect of the journey, so when things get physical, a lot of people are unprepared. But yeah, it happens.

There are plenty of good replies here, but I wanted to direct you a thread from awhile back that discussed all kinds of motion on DMT.

I have experienced heavy twitches/spasms/trembling in my body after coming down from vaporized DMT (around 20mg). The experience quality the minutes before it started was great, among my strongest and best DMT trips. But when the trembling started, I had no control over it. I can compare it with cold shakes, but several times more intense. Every muscle started twiching, my legs, stomache, chest, face... It was very scary the first time and I was worried about the hearth muscle becoming affected. After a few minutes the effects gradually faded and left me thankful to be alive.

I think it has some associations with serotonin syndrome, like a chock reaction caused by over-activating the receptors.

It really made me think about dosing with care.

Equating these "hyper shivers" in any way with serotonin syndrome is waaay over the top and does not do any justice to the real serotonin syndrome.

I'm with Tango on this one: an intense DMT "reset experience" triggers the abreaction of psychoemotional shock accumulated and frozen in the body over a lifetime.

Some time ago I read about this, it is how animals react to traumatizing experiences: once in a safe place, they'll lay themselves down and shake off the emotion.
