last night i took a 3hour journey into hyperspace. It was amazing, much deeper than i've been before, & for much longer. But i noticed something that has been a reoccuring theme for me. Nearly every time i get into hyperspace, with only 2 exceptions, one of which was very hot & one neutral, it's extremely cold & this lasts ~30minutes afyer i return. Is this a common occurance with spice? I'd be very interested to know what causes the sudden temperature change.

its cold because The Trav spends all the hyperspace heating fund on keeping the Nexus running, i think its a good trade off INHALE, SURVIVE, ADAPT it's all in your mind, but what's your mind??? fool of the year

Body temperature changes will fluctuate almost always.. pretty common considering this is 'hyperspace' we are talking about. 'What's going to happen?' 'Something wonderful.'

Yes, this happens, especially after coming back, and ESPECIALLY on oral dmt. I know on oral DMT, for me, i have to wrap myself up in blankets. One time i crawled in front of a space heater for an hour or so.

Perhaps because you are mostly motionless and close to a state of REM or perhaps even deeper sleep.. Our bodies conserve more energy when they are resting. Blankets and cats are the remedy. The cats will be attracted to you like a magnet when you vape DMT. I always thought it had something to do with vasoconstriction meaning that your extremities didn't get enough warm blood and thus lost heat, but other Nexians have disagreed with me on this. I also get really cold whenever I smoke cannabis. I don't know if that's useful information or not. Blessings ~ND "There are many paths up the same mountain."

I get cold on shrooms as well but not nearly as bad as spice. maybe theres something causing it that is a shared charecteristic of the tryptamine molecules? & i find spice seems to attract animals in general My dog looks at me strangely when i'm on spice. Almost as if he's concerned, he tends to sit right next to me & guide me through or attempt to protect me as if he can sense i'm currently between worlds & wants me to stay.

My brother has a type of raynaud's syndrome which has slowly progressed to be better..however when we embarked on LSA once, his circulation improved thereafter. Thoughts? I know that lysergics are vasoconstricting..could there be another effect happening? Also, some HBWR varieties are used for circulation issues in India. 'What's going to happen?' I think I had heard that it was caused by an increase in the blood flow to the skin, causing a cooling effect.

That doesn't make much sense, since serotonergic psychedelics are all mostly vasoconstrictors, which means you get less bloodflow to your skin. I think I got it backwards.

Same, my cat always at least checks on the person. I dont get the temp change, but most of the people i have witnessed on dmt came out really cold or really warm. All of the hallucinogens cause the body temperature to fluctuate both above and below normal during the trip. Sometimes this can be a really perceptible component that can be found uncomfortable to varying degrees. (Something that I have always been perplexed by is feeling both hot and cold at the same time.)
A possible helpful observation if noticing someone who is just reemerging open their eyes with a sort of shocked or deer-in-the-headlights look on their face followed by them closing their eyes and immediately rolling onto their side into fetal position is that person just had a major, possibly traumatic, launch and is now feeling really uncomfortable cold inside but is unable to respond to it. Gently throwing a blanket or a coat onto their torso will add a huge degree of warmth to their experience and seems to lessen the shock that sometimes follows that occurrence.
I don't know why it does though as it only seems to occasionally hit people that way.

DMT actually produced warmth in me the last time I used it. I suspect oxytocin-release plays a hand in this. Why DMT could consistently produce extreme colds for 2 hours+ is a very interesting one to consider. Since it is such an extreme effect. I think we may need to delve deeper in this one. Since vasoconstriction is really only part of a possible explanation.
Edit: Keeper Trout. Wow what a nice observation. I find that warmness is associated with psychological wellness. I just never consciously linked my need for fetal position with an unconscious want to produce warmth. I will remember this next time I feel the urge to crawl inwards and try to generate my inner oven instead.

I think that the role of serotonin receptor agonism in thermoregulation via actions in the anterior hypothalamus and midbrain may be involved in producing these effects more so than simply vasoconstriction alone in the peripheries. A similar process may well account for the sensation of being unable to breathe that many describe when vaporising DMT ie both effects are centrally-mediated. I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

This is the type of answer i was looking for. Is it possible the changes in body temperature rapidly like that could be dangerous or cause health issues? I've only noticed the cold from dmt, & it feels very safe. But harmalas on the other hand, i get intense & rapid fluctuation in temperature for hours.
