I could not agree more, &Love.
Despite occasional periods of vegetarianism, I was broadly convinced that a balanced omnivorous diet was the way to go. Since starting with the plants however, I have found myself just drifting effortlessly towards a fully vegetarian diet, and feeling much better for it. Ain't no steak made me feel anywhere near as good as a dab of spice has...!
If you haven't already discovered it, I cannot recommend Stephen Harrod Buhner's "Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm" highly enough. The title is a bit intimidating for some, but the stuff inside is exceptional in its quality and depth. He begins with the evolution of all these wonderful molecules, and leads onto an expanded version of the Gaia hypothesis, before integrating everything into a discussion of human creativity and the potential we have to continue the process. The book reads much better than my clumsy attempt at a synopsis.
βI sometimes marvel at how far Iβve come - blissful, even, in the knowledge that I am slowly becoming a well-evolved human being - only to have the illusion shattered by an episode of bad behaviour that contradicts the new and reinforces the old. At these junctures of self-reflection, I ask the question: βare all my years of hard work unraveling before my eyes, or am I just having an episode?β For the sake of personal growth and the pursuit of equanimity, I choose the latter and accept that, on this journey of evolution, I may not encounter just one bad day, but a group of many.β
