Hello everybody out there! You can call me by The Lost Abyss or TLA, either one will not bother me. I have been browsing the nexus for a few months now and finally decided to make an account. The community here seems to be tightly knit, knowledgeable and respectable, and I am glad to finally be a part of it.

A little background information about myself; I have received an Associates of Science degree specializing in chemistry (organic chemistry is the furthest class I have completed as of yet,) and I enjoy reading, learning and asking questions. I have always had a natural talent with computers and would enjoy learning about programming even though I have very little experience ( links and knowledge would be very well appreciated. ) I'm also familiar with and especially enjoy learning about Calculus and math in general. I have indulged in the wonders of DMT, LSD, MDMA and shrooms as well as cannabis.

Anyway, that's just a little bit about me. I truly do believe and hope I will fit in with the community that is present here and I hope to chat with everyone who is active on these forums.

You seem to have some similar interests to myself! What kind of programming are you trying to get into? I am not particularly formally educated, but I may be able to help push you in the right direction. I have taken a few classes before and actually taught myself a lot about computer language while learning how to hack video games when growing up.

What kind of things are you hoping to do with your chemistry degree? If it's something you'd be willing to say.

And what would you say has been your best psychedelic ally so far?

Thank you, thank you! And I would like to learn about C++. To be honest, I have heard very little about C++ and do not know really anything about programming but I am very eager to learn.

With my chemistry degree I currently wish to either get a four year degree in either engineering or research. Lately I have been leaning more towards the research side but I am interested in engineering because you apply math, physics and chemistry all in one, all of which I am very fond of.

As for my best psychedelic ally... I would definitely have to go with DMT. I have only experienced the spice once as of yet but it led me to a better understanding of myself as well as nature. I felt more grounded spiritually after my experience and it surpassed any other entheogen so far but I am keeping my mind open.

C++, eh? Are you working towards a certain area of programming goals or are you just trying to learn the basics? This may seem like a random question too but I swear there's reasoning behind it: Have you ever worked with a TI graphing calculator?

Well good luck to you especially if you go the engineering route! I like math and physics too, but I don't know if I like them that much haha. I could totally see doing the research side of things though, I have considered it myself. What kind of engineering would you get into? I'm much less familiar with that career path.

I'm glad to hear that you had a great experience on it. DMT has always been very powerful for me as well. As of yet I am reserving more judgment until I've had a full breakthrough on it. For me the most spiritually deep psychedelics tend to also be the most sexual, as it is through that angle that I have chosen to really explore myself. For that reason I've had mixed results with DMT so far, but I'd like to see what else it has to offer too. One thing I can say though is that it definitely helps me get deeper into the psychedelic realm no matter what I take afterward!

I would just like to learn the basics of programming; it always amazes me at what computers are capable of yet I do not understand how they work. And to answer your question, yes I have worked with many graphing calculators.

Chemical engineering involves constructing processes that mix chemicals and lately has expanded into biomolecular engineering with chemical engineering at the roots of that. Biomolecular engineers manipulate organic molecules and much of the focus of the research within that field is in biofuels and biodegradable polymers (plastics.)

I myself have not had a breakthrough but I will definitely post the experience once I have it!

Ah I gotcha, well that's cool. That's exactly how I felt when I was still modifying video games, hehe. Well then, are you familiar with the TI Basic programming language which is on those graphing calculators? The one I used was a TI-84+, I'm not sure about since then but I know it at least extends back to the TI-83. That was actually the first coding language that I ever learned, aside from some ASM hacker scripts. It's actually quite easy to use if you just mess around with it! You can make all sorts of fun little visual designs and trivia games and the like. That's what I used to spend most of my time in class doing instead lol. I consider it to have actually been a great help in stepping up to Java, which is what I tackled next.

That sounds like a pretty good field to get into, especially if you really find it interesting. I think it would be a little much for me, but you're welcome to enjoy all the math and physics you like. I like chemistry but for me it's mostly about understanding psychology and subjective experience.... I like to think that if I went down that route I would probably end up more on the level of like psychedelic psychotherapist. We'll see when the time comes, haha.
