So i've read on this forum and others on the internet that a lot people have a hard time breathing after smoking dmt. i have never had this problem and many others never have had this problem. i dont beileve it should be an inherent feature of smoking DMT.

now i noticed this when reading some data sheets regarding naptha

Ingestion Nausea, Vomiting, Abdominal pain.
Harmful: If swallowed accidentally, the product may enter the lungs
due to its low viscosity and lead to the rapid development of very
serious inhalation pulmonary lesions
(medical survey during 48 hours).

you probably havent evapped enough off yet!! its not as bad as drinking it neat but inhalling a small amount of naptha i think is probably bad stuff in DMT.

i would not recommend smoking any spice which makes you short of breath or makes you struggle to breath

I would deduce that spawn is talking about Naptha causing breathing problems.

But...Im with endlessness....what????Very happy

i was a bit of state when i wrote that. but i remember reading that some people experienced shortness of breath when smoking DMT.

people who experience this are probably inhaling naptha fumes very bad for lugs future health.
edited my original post to make abit more sense

I highly doubt that's the reason. First of all inhaling and drinking naphtha are COMPLETELY different.

Also I'm pretty sure the naphtha would evaporate or burn unDer the heat of the flame. It's not like you're smoking a pool of naphtha with some dmt in it...

Okay, this apparent shortness of breath isn't naphta fumes inhaling related.
From what I gather it is rather an impression during breakthrough that a vaccuum takes place in the room. This happens with DMT extracted from other non polar solvent such as d-limonene.
But it´s more like a short lived impression when being sent from this sense of reality to the next hyperspace one. You don't normally feel short of breath when landing afterwards- quite the opposite. Maybe it is that you switch your breathing cycle to another one (study could be found or made about that) as in my personnal experience, an hyperspace launch also does have some positive impact on my posture.

I speak subjectively here and only sharing what I found relevant to the OP.
So, IMO and in short : no naphta but rather a biorythm switch or simply maybe a sensation distortion.

so what would be the symptoms of inhaling naphtha that was trapped inside the DMT?

can there be enough solvent trapped inside the DMT to cause ill effects? or would it be to little to effect the user? or would it burn off when heating occurs? ect?

it seems odd to me to rule out the possibility that negative effects are coming from risidual solvent in the DMT.

My uncle's friend gets the breathing issue and he is using spice that is about 2 years old and has become very powdery in that time. I would think any solvents could have evaporated out by then.
It only happens right after a good rip. Almost as if he has forgotten how to breathe.
Then it always goes back to normal shortly after.

I think more likely its due to toxic/irritating compounds generated by the combustion of DMT.

To all those people having issues, I suggest vaporizing DMT instead of smoking. Personally I will only go for vaporizing DMT instead of smoking, after I had an issue of persisting cough for 3 days after smoking some DMT (which was def clean from solvents). It really makes a world of difference. Try the sherlock glass vaporgenie, or build yourself an improvised vaporization pipe such as the Green Buddha or the Inspirator MKII (instructions found here in the nexus).

I use this. The only time I have any issues is when ash makes it's way through the cone. It can be unpleasant and lead to coughing but cleaning it periodically removes this issue completely.

Second thing that comes to mind is perhaps you're inhaling lye. You shouldn't tolerate any black liquid in your solvent when you crystalize it. Cleaning up with a small amount of activated carbon really helps too.

Sometimes during heavy throws of a trip breathing may be harder but as you integrate into the experience I find just the opposite happens.

Your vape shouldn't have much flavor. It should be smooth and pleasant. Never hot nor harsh.

This reminds me of when Terence Mckenna said.. "you really need iron lungs to do this.." Big grin

It's happened to me - I think diet may have something to do with it. I don't know about you guys but when I have almost an empty stomach I have a great trip but when I have a full stomach or half full, it will 'clench' sometimes or I will get a slight 'wave' of nausea which usually passes just as quick as it comes on.
It's never enough to stop Me though.
Also, I think that it can be the nerves. When I get really nervous my stomach acts up. I feel like I want to puke. Sick
That happened when My Mom died and when I used to get in a lot of trouble, the fear of getting caught would make me sick to my stomach, so, I think that since DMT can be so overwhelming because of its rapid onset when smoked, it can be kinda compared to getting sick after a roller-coaster ride or a stressful event.
I think the SIZE of the 'Hit' and how efficiently it is vaporized or smoked [ Gently ! Don't kill the Deemsters Maaa-aaa-aan !] can be a factor too ... sometimes the first hit is so concentrated and strong, that trying to take the next one, cross-eyed and fumbling with the lighter, next thing you know the stomach is like " What what what? " and it cringes - You know?
All in All though,I don't usually get sick to my stomach
I'm pretty darn used to the trip [ Elf Space ] nowadays but no matter HOW MUCH I try to prepare for it's rapid ONSET , it can still can be quite overwhelming, like," Whoahhhh-oh-oh, Hang On Hang on Hay-ong Hee-ong Hyong yong uh uh WOW Mannn ! Holy Crap !! "
You know?
That can give 'Butterflies" in the Tummy, too
Make absolutely sure the spice is Completely DRY Shocked before smoking too
I ALWAYS use a dessicant [sp?] just in case and wait until the spice has a 'crunch' to it when I poke it with my finger and mix it around
I want it to feel like dry bone meal, then I knows it's 'good-to-go'. Thumbs up
Everything I say here happened in My own Imagination. The more fantastic it sounds, the more you can count on it being in the realm of Dreams,
