Dear Nexians,

It's been a while now (couple of months) I've made my own DMT extraction, and gathered the "tools" for smoking it (GVG, torch lighter, etc), but I've never dared to try the spice, although i respect it so much! I'm scared to smoke it, i'm scared of the unknown....

DMT is my passion, I've been reading, watching etc possibly everything about it, in order to be well prepared for my first trip, but in the same time, i'm just getting more confused and scared to try it!!

I was wondering if some of you encountered this weird fear before his first time???
I'll really appreciate all your advises, i need them!

There is nobody (physical person around me) with who i can share this.
It's big taboo for many people, and they tent to think i'm crazy when i try to explain my passion for DMT.

Many thanks in advance

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Yes, and unfortunately it gets harder and harder to do each time. I've not had a lot of breakthroughs, but like you said, I know enough to respect the medicine. It doesn't get easier; just do your research and decide if this is something that is in your best interest. And remember that there is no harm in waiting. It'll be here tomorrow, the next day, and the next, so there is no need to rush into it if it doesn't feel come rely right for you.
All of my posts are entirely fictional. I am a writer, and as a means to research the life of a fictional character that I'm writing about, I post on the Nexus to get into character. In real life I have no interest or interaction with mind-altering substances.

It requires quite a big leap of faith. You can start small to test the waters. There is nothing wrong with that. Maybe make some changa so you can have a puff here and there to gradually increase intensity?

I, and probably most, have the "fear of god" as you might put it. There are a number of threads on fear and how to deal with it, really it's inside you and you have to find a way forward for yourself. Base it on your feelings, listening to too many trip reports and methods can make you doublethink and second guess yourself when you could have been confident in yourself.

It's been said before that there's no rush. You can sit somewhere comfortable, use your powers of awareness to sense the happening, and if you feel comfortable with altering your neuro-sensory input... many have said it's worth it.

Recently I've been researching the many, many psychoactive substances available to us humans, and how many choose lesser-known gray area synthetic chemicals. DMT is not like 25I-NBOMe, for instance, in that you can be certain the dmt will return you reliably to baseline quickly and relatively harmlessly. This offers me much confidence to crack open the world without fear of harming myself in the process, which is extremely valuable imho. Plus, there's much to be said about plant spirits as guides in hyperspace.

Think about what draws you in this direction in the first place.
Whenever I've let the plants guide me, it's led to beautiful places, even though I didn't know what I was doing Pleased

Good luck on your path Smile

edit: By the way, I think this thread is in the wrong forum. Oops.

...as a girl. Solid Advice Razz

Anyways, the fear is not unfounded and i would not advise to do anything you don't want to do. There is nothing wrong with just reading about it. Perhaps the time simply isn't right?

If it is constantly nagging in the back of your head, i would just try a small amount, say 10mg. This won't give you many clues, but the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the act of smoking it.

Perhaps the leap of faith won't be that big then, once you decide to continue.

i think the the action is not exclusive to the sex of the person involved in the phrase.

women give birth, the "women up" is several levels above the "man up"

i think beating the DMT anxiety only requires a man up

Very happy

This imho is a very good advice. When you feel like it, just try a little bit to get a feeling for it. Eventually you'll like it and try more the next time. Eventually you won't like it but nothing too serious will happen.

//EDIT//

I was really nervous, when I tried it the first time. If you like, read my report. Maybe it helps. Smile

Just go slow 10 mg will not eat you alive, then just go up 5 mg at a time until you hit 25mg which should be enough to break through.
In my opinion there is nothing to fear, and for 99 out of a 100 it's the best thing ever. Also if you stay below the 25 mg the chance of having a terrible time are a bit lower.
40 mg and up, for me is way to intense, and therefor results in difficult trips.

Finally don't mix fear and excitement the can feel the same but they are definitely not the same. And pre-flight anxiety is not a uncommon thing and usually does not result in difficult trips.

Very common thing, even for veteran psychonauts. It's just fear of the unknown at this point. It really does seem to get harder each time you take that plunge. I don't think that feeling really ever goes away.

The best advice is to start small and gradually increase. Usually when confronted with that "man up" statement, males will sometimes make stupid decisions Very happy So don't listen to that and just dip your toes in and splash around a bit before you delve too deep.

At the low dose range the effects reminded me a lot of mushrooms. If you have some experience with that then you can at least get an idea of what a low dose of DMT will feel like initially.

I find i end up playing with re-x & cleaning up my dmt more than smoking it the longer i hold onto it Laughing

Working your way up w/ small dosages helps, but the biggest thing for me is timing. there is often weeks inbwtween doses, i just wake up every so often & feel good from the start & know today is the day to smoke.

Set & setting also is another big part. It has to be quiet, nobody else around to disturb the experience, & the room has to be prepared in a way that is comfortable & safe (clean, no sharp objects around, smells nice, etc.)

But the hardest part is usually the initial hit. It always holds a certain amound of tension, but after it starts taking effect the next coulple hits feel almost automatic & the tension breaks as soon as the trip starts & i feel my body slowly dissolving into the room around me.

It does get easier to take that plunge the more accustomed you get to the effects though.

Between the time that I learned what DMT was and when I would eventually smoke it, was three years long, and I was excited to try it as ever throughout that period. Then when it was finally "in my hands", I thought, "do I really want to do this?" I was instantly overcome with a fear of doing that which I had longed so hard for after so long...I've never regretted that decision to smoke it Smile

Fearing the unknown whilst you perpetuate the unknowing nature of it is wasteful. Wasteful of precious living moments where you could be enjoying, not fearing.

This preciousness of the present moment is one of my great insights from DMT.

Carpe diem.

Thumbs up

Anyways theres nothing weird about fearing the unknown. Just about everyone experiences this! Give the following a long ponder - what exactly are you afraid will happen? Be honest with yourself. If you think of an answer come share it here and we can discuss it with you. Are you afraid you won't like what DMT shows you? Afraid that it may change who you are? If you can't come up with an answer then you just have to recognize that your fear is totally irrational.

I know where you come from (OP) because I'm pretty much there myself.

did my extract and now I'm testing it in various ROA (leaf, ejuice) but minimal dosage.

I got some mild buzz, quasi-CEVs and whatever. Now I'm getting frustrated, I want more, the fear is always there, but the more I experience it, little by little, the more I want to finally get to the bottom of things and experience the whole trip.

move forward, little by little, but move. Fear won't let you go anywhere. You *know* nothing bad will happen to you physically.

my own experience, now testing the waters, is that it's very inviting, when you get to "see" and "feel" stuff that you read in report, you know you're getting there, and you feel welcome and curious.

There's not much of a risk going for 10/15mg IMO, make sure you won't get disturbed for 10 minutes.

Once it wears off, you will regret not having taken more.

Alot of people here will agree that if you take a smaller dose 10mg? prior to a full dose it helps with the anxiety. I can do 50mg trips 2-3 times a night for a week and a half. Come back to it after I've given myself a break and it feels like I'm getting ready to hurl myself off a cliff.

A couple things you can look forward to:

Your first full breakthrough will be the easiest.

Your first high dose trip will be your easiest high dose trip.

You'll forget all about being afraid, hell you might forget you're holding a pipe!

When you get back to earth, you're gunna beat yourself up for feeling afraid of such a beautiful place!

That last one is a real vicious cycle hehe Cool

If your first high dose trip is the easiest i hate to imagine my next one, which i probably wont do. A real 50mg dose for most people done right is by far too much.

10mg is like being really stoned, except you can think much more clearly and it doesnt last very long. Best thing to do if your having issues talking yourself into dosing. Its a very forgiving dose and wont take you by surprise like you think.

Honestly, i think that I'm scared from myself, what is really inside me, who i really am... and also of not liking what it shows me.(I have a Huge imagination, and i have weird artistic personality, maybe it can make things worse?)

Thank you.
