Hi,
I have searched this site and Google with no avail.
I am curious if anyone has any experience with a TNF blocker like Humira or Remicade and MAOI's specifically ayahuasca.
I have Crohns disease and am taking Humira to manage it. I am wanting to travel to Peru to take part in some ayahuasca ceremonies and dont want to have any problems.
Thanks

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

It seems like the safety of humira (and it's) drug interactions is not very well established?

Intezam would think twice taking this drug (humira) and travel to a tropical 3rd world country because mycobacterium tuberculosis is everywhere present in the dust, street foods..etc (unlike most of the western countries)?

Not a problem for a healthy person?

Abbøt pharmaceuticals wrote this:
WARNING
RISK OF INFECTIONS
Cases of tuberculosis (frequently disseminated or extrapulmonary at clinical presentation) have been observed in
patients receiving HUMIRA.
Patients should be evaluated for latent tuberculosis infection with a tuberculin skin test. Treatment of latent tuber-
culosis infection should be initiated prior to therapy with HUMIRA

Anyway, we are not a GP!! But have you ever supplemented with a natural TNF blocker? Like curcumin (also a RIMA) together with piperin (for better bio availiability)? High CBD strains of cannabis? Also, have you tried chaga fungus? Aren't they a lot cheaper when one makes their own capsules and tinctures? And isn't there sangre de grado, cat's claw and many others beneficial plant healers such as boswelia serrata, guggul....etc?

We do not follow the narrative that one needs a curandero, a 'qualified' shaman, a plains quack, a greedy guide, or a romantic set of ideas to partake in psychedelic herbs such as ayahuasca? Because they are self-initiatory? However, we would consult a herbal specialist in case of disease if we (had change of mind and) wanted to unmanifest (the disease)? But we would not travel in organized tour groups or partake in any organized group events, unless unavoidable, so that depends on each person?

Humira (Adalimumab) and Remicade (Infliximab) are monoclonal antibodies which inhibit TNF-alpha; MAOIs are not contra-indicated with these agents. But there are other aspects to consider, particularly the effects of active inflammation which are inherent in the conditions they are used for eg Crohns, psoriasis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid disease etc on the levels of cytochrome P450 enzymes, an effect which is typically suppressive. The use of these cytokine modulators can, through suppressing inflammation, cause these P450 enzymes to rise but AFAIK, the exact effects on the different subsets is not thoroughly characterised. This makes the efficacy of harmalas difficult to establish with certainty.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.
