I am planning on trying thick light's tek when my order of ACRB comes in and noticed it says to decant the naphtha.
How do you properly decant without pouring anything else off?
Also a side question, does that tek work with Mimosa too?

Turkey basters are big & suck up alot of base with the naphtha. Order a couple cheap lab pipettes off ebay in different sizes. 10ml, 5ml, & smaller. Have a couple tall, skinny wine glasses or graduated cylinders on hand too. When you get down to the last bit of the naphtha its hard not to suck up the black base soup. you can get some in with the naphtha just suqirt it in a wine glass or cylinder & let it separate. The layer of naphtha will be deeper in a skinnier container & it will be easier for you to get as much naphtha out per pull as possible.

Oh OK. I thought he meant pour it off very carefully like when you cook ayahuasca and then people say to let the particles settle and decant without disturbing the particles.
If you read the tek it doesn't say use a pipette or baster anywhere that's why I thought he specifically meant to pour it off.

You can pour off but its alot cleaner & easier with a pippette. Especially if your using a wide jar with a wide mouth (ex. 1/2 gallon mason jars)
Or if your doing a/b rather than stb, a separatory funnel is a good investment. It does all the separation/decanting for you.
You may also want to try doing a smaller scale extraction if this is your first attempt. That way if you mess up, you dont waste all your bark. Maybe try with 50-100g first. When you get your techniqe worked out & working well, move on to bigger amounts.

Yea, my 12 inch pipette was very cheap, like 7 bucks, and I can't imagine extraction without it. That being said, it is a very tedious skill that gets better with each pull.
What I do, is with the pipette, suck up most of the nps, then when I'm getting to where it's hard to suck up the nps without getting the base soup, I just start transferring into a shot glass rather than my extraction vessel [edit-collection dish, not extraction vessel(which has the soup)]. I finish the last few suck-ups with the pipette, shooting into the shot glass.
When the nps is all or mostly out of the mix, I'll then clean my pipette to get the purple bits out, then suck up the nps from the shot glass, where it's much easier to get that last bit and avoid the base particles that sink to the bottom.
The cool thing is that doing this method - you really can siphon all your nps without getting a single drop of purple in your collection dish.

A glass syringe with a long stainless steel needle is my favourite approach for smaller extractions. For larger extractions a separatory funnel is the way to go.

Yea I should note that I typically do STBs which makes using a sep funnel a problem. If you can get one, it's the best/easiest way. A bit more $$ though.

Glass syringles and 100% stainless steel needles are reasonably cheap though. I have been trying to move away from using plastics in extractions.
