Yeah, why not; but please explain us your vision in more detail. What is a "nature version of burning man"?

Personally, I would very much be interested in a European version of burning man.

It's kinda hard to create a dialogue when no one knows what you're talking about Laughing

Not trying to be a debbie downer...but:

Spacing is necessary for safety reasons which rules out really cool nature places like dense forest. Out in a green field, however, there's always the fact that giant crowds of humans tend to kill nature.

The green field wouldn't be green anymore after a festival - it would be trampled and muddy.

The psychedelic festivals I've been to always chose land that was barren, for the most part, because leaving as little trace as possible is usually a priority.

There's a reason why the desert is the place for Burning Man.

The next best thing is coordinating your own Nature Man with 50-100 friends, something that is manageable out in nature, and something that you guys can clean up easily without leaving much of a trace in the area.

Right? I mean, can you imagine what a weekend of 80,000 humans would do to an untouched area of beautiful nature?

Almost sad to think about...

But a glorified camping trip...Now that topic is filled with endless ideas!

Big grin

To speak with the (possible) words of Pandora:

Why not call it "Burning Woman"?

Also, Burning man is in nature already: a desert biome. So I guess you mean something that's not a desert, maybe we should have an "Arctic Woman" where in the end we freeze some water in the shape of a Woman? Razz

Kind regards,

The Traveler

Something like Electric Forest?

I've never been to it or burning man; I think EF is more musical, a nature rave. But it seems they have similar aspects. Not sure how much nature you require, but there's a lot of other festivals that are basically big parties like burning man, held at parks and such. In the states and Europe.

That's a neat idea. To add to it - throughout the week, the folks attending could build giant ice sculptures. At the end, they could possibly use flamethrowers (or some other catchy pyrotechnic) to melt the sculptures. Melting Woman ?? Smile
Sometimes it's good for a change. Other times it isn't.

One story says that original figure burned on baker beach was meant to be an effigy of Larry's ex-girlfriend, thus technically it's been burning woman all along. Wink

Of course Larry will neither confirm nor deny this story, he says burning man means whatever YOU want it to mean.

Check out something like rainbow or shambala or boom. There is all sorts of nice festivals in a more woodsy/green setting

I'm down for starting burning women though...preferably next to a costa rican mango farm.

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

Sounds like a great idea. Smile You might check out some of the regional burns already going on. Transformus outside Asheville, NC is on a property that backs up to the Pisgah National Forest, has trees and trails and mountain backdrops, even a lake for some swimming. Other regional burns probably have some other beautiful sites too, if that's not in your neck of the woods

I don"t really understand the "nature" version of burning man. Maybe it is related to all the hoohar about the festival not living up to it"s stated principles (i don"t know enough about the festival to comment on this). But if you wanted a festival that could be very eco friendly you could ban all internal combustion engines. People would have to arrive on bicycles and take turns running the elctricity on bicycle driven generators.
In opposition to the desert you could have it in a watery environent (England in June would be ideal) next to a big lake.
If there is any truth to the story about burning effigies of ex-girlfriends everyone could bring an effigy of an ex partner and throw it in the lake (if you have never had a partner, perhaps someone that has spurned your advances in the past, or your parents). The festival would have to be called "Drowning Person" so as not to come off as sexist.
It would be obligatory to make the effigies from biodegradable materials. Maybe they could made out of a paste from mixing fish food and spit, thereby giving something back to nature when they are thrown into the lake.
