The following link leads to a chapter from Thomas Roberts's forthcoming book, The Psychedelic Policy Quagmire. I found this passage, though a little difficult to follow at some points, to contain some very interesting sentiments. This chapter really goes beyond what the title describes. It is kind of long, but well worth the read! Thumbs up

Quote:
As a society, Americans are committed to the principle that the production of knowledge should be uninhibited and access to it should be universal. This is the democratic ideal. We think that where knowledge is concerned, more is always better. We don’t believe that there are things that we would rather not know, or things that only some should know ⎯ just as we don’t believe that there are points of view that should not be expressed, or citizens who are too wrongheaded to vote.

This book documents psychedelics as a source of intellectual knowledge and cognitive processes. Of course, they also provide psychotherapeutically valuable knowledge (Grof 1975, 1980, Winkelman & Roberts 2007), but that is for other chapters. If we apply Menand’s standards, then current psychedelic drug policy is anti-American, anti-democratic, and anti-knowledge. Will policy experts figure out a way to broaden Menand’s ideal to include psychedelic ideas and thinking processes?

Thanks for the upload!

I see it as a way of understanding that truly its in our blood.. within sacred history allows us the privilege to utilize psychedelics. To tax it all and keep it in secret under peoples noses is incredibly disheartening. I really enjoyed the list of 'which categories do psychedelics fall under.' Um, all of the above. So true. Big grin
'What's going to happen?' 'Something wonderful.'

Skip the manual, now, where's the master switch?

We are interstellar stardust, the re-dox co-factors of existence. Serve the sacred laws of the universe before your time comes to an end. Oh yes, you shall be rewarded.

While I can certainly appreciate his sentiment and hopeful interpretation of American ideals, I regrettably believe that it's much more realistic/accurate to substitute (financial) "wealth" for "knowledge" in that first paragraph. Unfortunately, what he posits there seems to be the underpinning for his further arguments. Mad
